Klingon mating ritual = genetic engineering

Could Klingon mating rituals be a subtle form of genetic engineering?

I.e. both the male and female are looking for a mate strong enough to break each other's bones (the more bones broken, the better), and having enough will to continue mating despite any pain. Could this be a subtle form of genetic engineering to produce tougher, stronger, more pain-resistant Klingons (with side effects like intelligence)?

Extreme natural selection rather than genetic engineering, if you ask me.

It's called "natural selection." Animals always try to get the strongest mate (except for humans. We go for the hottest :) ).

Or the oldest one with the most cash who will then promptly die.

There`s no proof that Klingons are really strong, remember a Ferengi made it through the mating ritual.

The funny thing is that, more and more lately, the "hottest" are the ones least suited to survival in a fully natural environment. I'm joking, mostly, but picture Kate Moss out in the wild. She'd get her ass handed to her by a squirrel.

And gerbils kicked Richard Gere's ass (figuratively? Literally? You decide!) There are bound to be exceptions to just about any rule, is what I'm sayin'. Besides, I don't think you mean Ferengi, because the only non-Klingon (besides a human) that we've seen get it on with a Klingon was Neelix, and he probably just curled up into a ball like his ancestral hero Sonic and let that luscious little Klingon redhead bounce him around Tuvok's quarters. I'm just wondering how many gold rings he collected in the process.

It would be considered voluntary eugenics.

Thing I've always wondered is how the hell could Dax possibly put a hurtin' on Worf? Just one more reason why that's my kinda girl!

Maybe its like for Stargate...just like Teal`c,her symbiote must give her an extra boost.

Jadzia isn't human. For all we know, Trills are comparable to Vulcan and Klingons in strength.

Either that, or since Worf has only had one Klingon girlfriend, maybe he doesn't have the damage resistance other adult male klingons have
