Is the reason that the Ent-D's warp core was so temperamental is because of all the modifications Geordi did to it?

Lets be fair now. That computer virus overrided every single safety measure in place, the crew of the Yamato simply never saw it coming. All systems were fine and then they were vapor.

EDIT* I remember the E-D sensors picking up the problem, maybe they did see it coming but it was already too late by that time.

Thats what laforge gets for overclocking the warp core and not adding a good heatsinkl.

I thought it already was temperamental because it was shoddily designed, and Geordi's overclocking then made it worse.

Actualy Geordi's modifactions to the Warp Core improved saftey. This is evident by the last TNG episode "All Good Things".

"The captain claimed our people violated a 4,000 year old treaty forbidding us to develop hyperspace technology. Extermination of our planet was the consequence. The subject did not survive interrogation."
