Did the prophet rape Sisko's mom?

Remember the prophet took control of Sisko's mom's body and had sex with Sisko's biological father and after that she left because she didn't choose Sisko's dad, the prophet did.

Indeed.

Though we don't know if the women was actualy aware of what was going on.

'Sarah' I.E. the prophet, was one hell of a ruthless being.

The prophets do what they want. They were no better than thier enemies.
I think of this a clearly violation

Considering that Sisko's mother left and had nothing to do with him when the prophet stopped possessing her seems important. If the prophets didn't send her away with no memory of her "family" that would mean that she specifically chose to disappear, leaving her child behind. If this was a conscious choice on her part I think there had to be at least some sort of psychological trauma involved.

That to me would make me lean in the direction of saying, "yes, the prophet raped her".

Well, does it matter, if you drug a woman and have sex with her while she's unconscious it's rape isn't it? Maybe she would give you her consent but you didn't ask for it.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was simply saying that we don't know what state the person was in at the time.

Strictly speaking, no, the Prophet did not rape her; Captain Sisko's father did (it was he, not the Prophet, that had sex with her without her informed consent -- although, to be fair, he probably thought she consented, and so most probably unknowingly committed the rape). The Prophet did violate her volition, however, and would probably be considered an accomplice to the rape.

In any event, legalistic hairsplitting aside, the Prophet's behaviour was profoundly immoral (indeed, if judged by Kantian ethics, it would be considered as the most immoral act possible). It remains an open question how exactly the Prophets are morally superior to the Pah-wraiths if they are capable of such heinous acts when it suits their ends.

Ummm...I was always under the impression that the Prophet didn't possess Sisko's mom as much as actually she invented and appeared to Sisko's dad in a physical body of her own creation.

Is there something that I missed in that episode that makes it so that the Prophet actually possessed an existing person?

Uh, didn't his mom leave after she got her senses back?

That would imply that the Prophet possessed her.

Rape is unwilling sex, you have to choose to do it intentionally for it to be rape. What if she was screaming not to do, and the prophet took control of her and made her.

Well I always interpreted the fact that his mother left as meaning that prophet that was playing her part had gone back to the worm-hole and left Ben and Dad by themselves

You and me both, man.

So what, does that mean Sisko's like a demigod or something? Fuck, something like that would totally ruin the entire series for me.

DS9 just got a whole lot lamer in my opinion...

Prophets were stupid anyway. So was Bajor. The Domion should have wiped out the lame ass prophets while the Cardies ass fucked the wussy ass Bajorans. Rip those stupid earings off of their faces too...

Whilst it did lamify the series somewhat, it became moot as soon after it was revealed, we had a baseball game and a casino heist. I loved that season.

DS9 was always lame. They tried to emulate the big war arc of B5, but while B5 gave us a war arc that called into question the nature of good and evil and the history of religions, DS9 gave us a generic "knock down the bad space Nazis" war.

I wonder if Gene Roddenbury would have approved of it, did he ever have plans for another series? I thought the theme of it is it's space station "far out there" near a stable wormhole which leads even more far out, like a frontier zone.

IIRC he was the ambassador. The Bajorans were right in this one.

I think it was the best Star Trek series so far. There was real character development without the reset button at the end of every episode, they at least had space battles and the story seemed to fit.

Voyager was rather boring and Enterprise sometimes really is a pain to watch, it seems they just repeat plots from the other series.

It would have been cool if they had regular visits from really weird aliens from the Gamma Quadrant. I mean it doesn't seem like other species can travel that far without the wormhole either. It's riff with opportunity to not only explore but set up trade relations. They should have had a regular inflow of outgoing exploration and trade craft. And an inflow of the same from the other side once word got out.
