I don't think the shape would take acceleration and stress very well. It needs some textures too. It's cool though, in a Star Trekish kind of way.( I don't mean that as an insult, in some ways I like the outer design of ST ships; its just that I don't think they would work out very well)
Textures arent' importent since it's a work in progress.
Anyway, I think it's pretty good. Althought I do think that the three cannons could be moved back either one third or halfway down the length of the hull, and maybe build up the pylons where they connect. It would help balance it a lot.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

I think it looks too spindly. The connections of the cannons to the hull look too slender. Perhaps it would be better if they were thickened, or moved back and closer to the huller.

Actually, in addition to my comments above, it also might look better if you ditch all the spines (the two big ones and the little ones on the cannons) and the little nacelle and pylon. And where the nacelle is, just extend the hull downward some (but don't forget to move and build up on the cannon braces).
As it is, it's kind of a mish-mash.

It's a bit confusing which end is front and which is back. My initial guss was that the end with the four things that looked like cannons was the front - because Dalton's comment about front guns wouldn't make sense otherwise. But judging by how the streamlining is that might be the back, making those engines. Then the thing in front that is shaped like a jet engine would actually be the gun. Which way is it supposed to go?
Looks a little like a Cain class cruiser from FS2, but I like the Hammerhead design.

To answer a bit of everyone's questions, the three cannon side is the front, and the ship uses a sort of inertia drive to propel itself. It also has shielding.
But I probably will try to build up the pylons a bit.
I'm with Crayz here. The ship definitely wants to go the opposite way you want it to. What if you turned the weapons pylons around so they faced the other direction? I think that might look interesting. It would make the design more compact and lend it a menacing sort of alien fish hook shape.
I couldn't really change the pylons without destroying the overall look of the ship so I've decided to only slightly change them for the time being (the ship has shields so it's not going to be super-vulnerable to any degree).
Looks much better now, although personally, I'm not too crazy about the spikes, but as I said, a personal opinion.
