Star Trek: Voyager
Shattered
60 min.
Chakotay (Robert Beltran) is struck by a temporal energy blast from the warp core and awakes to find Voyager divided into time zones representing its past and future. To resolve the ship's temporal instability, Chakotay must team with Janeway's suspicious former self from seven years earlier.
Ummmmm is there anything that Warp Cores can't do? Other than safely get a ship into hyperspace?

Well the Warp Core fires off Temporal Energy and causes voyager to go seven years in the ast within itself whileat the same time causing people to go WTF en masse.

Uh yes.

Well, off the top of my head this is what a warp core can do:

As mentioned, when hit by WST (Weird space thing) it can fracture time. VOY: 'Shattered'

It can help someone travel through time. VOY: 'Fury'

It can split a ship in close dimensional proximity. VOY: 'Deadlock'

It can be used to avert a time travel mishap. DS9: 'The Visitor'

It can boost any system on a ship. Eg: TNG: 'The Nth Degree'. Was used to increase shield strength.

Can be used in conjunction with Warp Nacelles to create a Hyper Travel Vortex. TNG: 'The Nth Degree'

Can be modified with a couple of plastic strips to create Slipstream conduits. VOY: 'Hope and Fear'

Was used to create a 'Static Warp Shell' to stop another WST. TNG: 'All Good Things'

When the Core is at maximum output and combined with kemacite ore, a ship can travel through time. DS9: 'Little Green Men'.

And thats just off the top of my head.........

I'm detecting a time travel motif here.

Who knows what evil technobabble could ensue should you be unfortunate enough to fire the deflector dish at a warp core!

Plus, TurboPhaser, that image fucks up the format where ever you post. You should consider shortening it.

Time-warps from large explosions are nothing new in ST. A "temporal loop" was created when the Bozeman hit the E-D in "Cause and Effect". The Federation has apparently fucked up spacetime in its territory so badly that any large release of energy can create bizarre spacetime effects.

Don't forget a photon torpedo barrage in "Yesterday's Enterprise"

This should have been included in that Leah brahams Trial article then too, unless a temporal loop occurred during the trial and no one remembers because that hadnt happened yet

Ha, you'll be ok as long as the ship isnt called 'Enterprise', 'Voyager' or 'Defiant'.

Pick a small, unimportant ship and you should be fine.:D

Yes, more specific.

Ahem, yes sorry about that. I have shortened it to the 500 limit.

I always had a fun realistic fucked up Time Travel Idea for star Trek.

You get a small partial transmission, an automated distress signal from a long lost federation vessel. It seems to be traveling "Too Fast" the crew is almost in stasis, and decades have passed by without them. Thanks to those two mother hulking black holes the ship is traveling through the galaxy in an orbital pattern. The problem, you need to figure out a way of slowing her the fuck down.
