What is up with this? For five Emmys, I have lost faith in the Emmys. I could see once but twice in a row     :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :kill: B & B
StarTrek.com wrote:Matching its tally from last year, Enterprise earned five nominations in its second season for the 55th Annual Emmy Awards announced this morning, but three of those nominations are in the same category.

"Dead Stop," "The Crossing" and the season finale "The Expanse" were three of the five nominees in the category Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series, with the entire VFX teams headed by Dan Curry, Ronald B. Moore and Mitch Suskin named (see full lists below). Last year Enterprise had two nominations in that category, and the series pilot "Broken Bow" ended up winning (related story). This year the only competition is from Joss Whedon-produced shows: UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Fox's Firefly.

Another repeat nomination is in Outstanding Makeup For A Series (Prosthetic), for "Canamar." Michael Westmore's team of 16 makeup artists were all named. Among the competitors in this category is HBO's Six Feet Under, which beat Enterprise last year.

Finally, Dennis McCarthy's score for "The Expanse" is vying for the Emmy in Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Dramatic Underscore). He is competing against composers for The Agency, JAG, Odyssey 5 and 24. This is McCarthy's seventh Emmy nomination on behalf of Star Trek, and if he triumphs, it would be his second time — in 1993 he won for the main title theme music for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

It's for outstanding VFX, makeup and music. Say what you will about continuity, plot or storylines in ENT, some/most of their epps have quite well done VFX, music and makeup.

Regardless of politics, this has nothing to do with the story, plot, charatcers, ect. of Star Trek. It has to do with cool looking technobabbulated explosions.

Methinks TV & movie awards are judged by different people.

No need to let reality get in the way of a good Ent bashing session  .

Honestly people around here bash Ent for the most inane reasons (when they have a reason at all that is), yes the show does have its bad points but instead of complaining about those people seem to have a fanatical dislike of the show just because it is that show.

I can understand it being nominated for special effects, sounds and sometimes makeup. But when it comes for story, acting etc Enterprise is lost.

These are all technical awards. Not really surprising.

Technical nominations. I don't think it should win anything but maybe makeup.

The only time I recall the show putting any real effort into the alien costumes(as opposed to cheap forehead-aliens) is in 'The Seventh'

And not one for Stargate

So did "Battlefield Earth".
Agreed. And So?

Good VFX, makeup, and music DO NOT a good show make. Yet the very WORST show on TV or the big screen CAN have very well done SFX, makeup and music. The two are not mutually exclusive.

If you don't like ENT in concept or execution, that doesn't negate that it DOES have very well done VFX, makeup and music.
And not one for Stargate
That is criminal. Stargate has excellent VFX, makeup and music IMHO, and deserves to be up there under nominations under those categories just as much Enterpise does.
