"I don't think the franchise is in trouble" Rick Berman
I wonder how strong his shield of stupidity is?

I just had a freaky thought, what if they screw-up ST on purpose this way they`ll remake TOS as the mirror universe.

So why did viewers bail last year? "Don't know," Braga said matter-of-factly. "Don't know."
3 guesses...

This doesn't necessarily make them stupid in and of itself. Berman couldn't very well have said, "Yeah, the franchise is dead as a doornail. For that reason, me and Braga should have been fired."
Braga couldn't have said, "Yeah, its cause our show blows."
Its just politicking.

There are no bad ratings in Star Trek. The bad ratings are committing suicide by the hundreds at the gates of Star Trek.

You beat me to it.
Seriously, the article reveals an astonishing amount of ignorance on their part. Look at the statements he makes about being proud of the show, and saying that there might be problems with it, but "many people" love it. That's just wrong.

Now we know where Darkstar got it.
He was just imitating his idols.

Kevin J Anderson to help write Trek next year

For his part, Braga told reporters, "I don't think creatively we were doing anything wrong. It can be debated from many different angles whether there are problems with the show.

That reminds me of the scene in Titanic when the stern is going down and the third class preacher is praying and everyone's trying to stay on the ship and kneel...

But not from the perspective of the audience?
There are many people that love the show.
You mean all those people who are sucking up to you on your own cocksucking forum?
We're very proud of the show, but we did feel that after a couple of seasons, it was time to do something differently." So why did viewers bail last year? "Don't know," Braga said matter-of-factly. "Don't know."
If you don't know why don't you ask the audiences? By just saying "I don't know" make you look incompetent and stupid. It proves you don't have close ties with the fans.

To be honest I might have more respect for them if they'd just come out and say, 'We hate you all and want to destroy all that you ever liked about Star Trek and dance a merry jig on its grave..'
At least we'd know they are honest, instead of brain-dead arse stupid.

Methinks that come next year, Paramount will hire Baghdad Bob as official spokesman for the Franchise.

Well, it can probably repel the UFP's Teraton-level photon torps...

i don't think his luck can hold out much longer. That is the only reason that some people read his books, shere luck.

Actually, it would. Anderson does display some understanding of character (even if he doesn't do particularly well with portraying
other people's characters) and a good grasp of Trek-style technology. His big problem comes in trying to write Star Wars as if it were Star Trek.

K. J. Anderson would actually be an improvement. How long has it been since actual sci-fi writers have written Trek?

An improvement to what though. I doubt he could bring back the franchise to anywhere remotely close to what it was with Roddenbury alive.

No, but it would be an improvement over soap opera writers trying to write sci-fi. That way lies cracks in event horizons.

Perhaps I am asking too much. It's just that Star Trek has great potential. Five years ago I used to be quite the fan. Now I really just don't care that much.
