Low Budget/No Budget 3D Modelling
I'm looking for a list of all the freeware 3D modelling programs that currently exist as well as advantages and disadvantages for each. One I know of is Blender, which apparently is Open-Source GPL (WHEEE!). Anyone know of any others?

I don't know of any good ones. Are you in the market, so to speak?
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.

Check out this site, they have a listing of free software (Blender not included.)
Interesting, I tried Blender, and I hate it, although I fully understand its potential, I couldn't get over the interface. On the other hand, trueSpace is starting to be enjoyable, I'm getting the hang of it much better than Blender, despite the approach taken by Caligari towards user interface being very similar to Blender (or perhaps it was the other way around, since trueSpace is older than Blender).
*shrugs* To each its own, I guess.

Hmm,
GMAX is apparently fairly good.

GMax is a cut-down version of 3ds Max used almost exclusively for making small games models for putting into 3D games engines, it's not intended for serious 3D application. I have to agree with you, Blender is a bastard to get the hang of, but the price is right and it's got a lot of features for a giveaway.

If you have any intention of seeing your mesh in a game someday, Wings3D is the exclusive supplier of 3D models to the VegaStrike community. Milkshape is good if you're converting Freelancer meshes.

Wings3d is kickass. I'm pretty good with it. I can even do the texturing. And with a good background and some Paintshop Pro . . . well, see my sig pic.JediNeophyte wrote:I like Wings 3D. I'm not half-bad with it.
