I'm here to grovel and beg mercy. I've been an arrogant selfrightous asshole and I deserve to to be spaced most mercilessly. In my brainwashed state of fundieness I'd been blined to reason and reality. I truly belived I knew what I was talking about but you're right, I'm a sheep who spouts the canned retoric of my "spiritual elders" and believes it for reasons beyond me but probably because I was afraid of God or eternal damnation of something, I don't really know now. I am worse than worm fecies. But having finaly had my beliefs challeged by people who aren't as weakminded as myself has made me re-evalutate my beliefs. I have seen the error of my ways and have done a lot of thinking the last few days. I don't want pity however. Flame me, spit on my ashes and piss them to the wind. But don't reject me after all the effort (or not so much really) you went through to convert me. I'm really a nice guy once I'm set straight. So even though I was (and in some ways will continue to be) a bastard prick, can we still be friends or is it too late?

Why? Is someone damned forever just because they were wrong and stupid? Is no one ever allowed to the change their mind or beliefs? What is the purpose of debating a person and challeging their beliefs if not to convince them they are wrong and set them straight? I'm not srcewing around trying to get back into good graces. Darth Wong and others actually convinced me to re-evaluate what I believed and they were very brutal in going about it, as they rightly should. I am legitimately in a state of transition. I realize that I will be demonized for awhile (if not forever) and not trusted, but I deserve it. What more can I say?

He could have made it less ambigious by just saying, "I concede."
But I don't see any real disadvantages in giving him a chance. Unlike the real world, turning your back at a wrong moment on a web-board does not have too severe a consequence. What can he do? He can make another moronic post and try to defend it. Then we'll sticky him, maybe ban him.
He probably knows that this is his last chance, whether he's sincere in changing his ways or not.

But as others have said, giving him a second chance wouldn't exactly have dangerous consequences. At most, really annoying consequences that will last about half a second.
