Awsome. Hav should make some art of it kicking people.
I tried blender once, but despite all the tutorials I could never find out how to make textures become applied properly, or even how to smooth a multitude of brushes touching each other without making them into individual smoothy things.
I like the designs. Looks like you need to apply smoothing.

Found the supersmooth setting, also someone elsewhere came up with a...i'm tempted to call this the 'loveboat' paintjob for a drednaught
And here's a chrome one.
Although I like the "wood paneling" look, the chrome is pretty cool looking as well. If you were going to keep the "wood" look, I would put hundreds of little rivets around each square section and then detail in some paint flaking off. So it looks like painted metal. Why does a space ship have to be smooth? In fact it makes it look like, and yours in particular, Babylon 5 ships, which I just couldn't stand.

Hmm, i'll work on a rivety texture though my texture-fu lags behind my blender-chi a great deal. As for smooth, well no particular reason other than aesthetics. This is what the ship looks like if the curved armour segments are removed.
It's me again with another ship. Four things though.
Firstly its not yet textured on about half of the objects, this is cause texturing takes ages and i am no good at it. So it's only most of the way complete.
Secondly i want opinions as this is by far the most nonstandard design i've done.
Thirdly i want suggestions as to what kind of people would build warships like this.
Fourthly i need a name for the class of ship, working title is sunhawk and someone has already suggested Barracuda but who knows what you lot will come up with.
Death Squid?
I dig the design, although the front and middle and the rear almost look like they could come from two different designers... maybe that can be part of it. So and so made the drive section and so and so made the command and living sections.
Loose the tip... it makes it look like a clog.
Maybe add a little width in the middle, other wise it looks pretty good.

Widening the 'missile rack/saddle/mount for upper point defence battery' is a good idea.
As for the tip, i was originally going for a kinda eaglebeak bow. Maybe a 'ancient greek trireme ramming old style nautical bow' would be better?
I think the idea of two designers is good. Or at least the design team being split between the aesthetic and practicalist camps with the practicalists just wanting spacegoing metal that blows shit up while the aesthetics want to blow shit up and be stylish cool and artistic while doing so.
I'm pondering whether alternately i should redo the life section to the mid rear to look more rounded with ridges raised up over the arm joins for the tail to lessen the division between the two appearances.
Stagger the dorsal broadside gun batteries, so that all twelve can bear on either arc, if the ship is unengaged on one side. Other than that, I love it, great style. How heavy a ship is it supposed to be, though? If it's a light dancer, that underslung spinal mount makes sense. If we're talking something cruiser+, that'd be difficult to bring to bear, and probably not worth obscuring the firing arc of the broadside guns.

-'If you really want to fuck with these idiots tell them that there is a vaccine for chemtrails.'
It's supposed to be the 'do it all' battleship. But the bringing the bow mount spinal to bear is probably worth it seen as the thing has a dedicated energy pipe from the rear of the ship and should be able to cause some impressive damage. It better cause the ship cant fire many guns straight ahead other than that. And it wouldnt significantly improve forward battery if we removed the underslung either.
One possible name suggested elsewhere is the Avatar class.
Oh and those weird racks on the forward part of the body just behind the bow are external mounts to dock six small craft if anyones wondering. These small craft will solve the 'be only in one place at a time' deficiency and guard the underside or rear when needed. Essentially oversized multi crew pseudo fighters with FTL and short duration supplies.
