According to a statement released by the General Department for Entertainment and Public, International and Corporate Relations the Shroomanian Prime Minister will be visting San Dorado sometime in the course of the next month. Under President Sidney Hank and Prime Minister Shroom, relations between San Dorado and Shroomania have reached an all-time high. Over the course of his four-year government the President has visited Farbanti two times, and a number of great industrial conglomerates of the two nations have begun close cooperations.


Arabiapolis Construction Surges Ahead
Despite the contraction of the world economy as a result of the Pathogen War, construction in the newfound city of Arabiapolis continues unabated. As millions of foreign dollars are pumped into the new desert city, architects are proposing all sorts of grotesque building projects: according to sources for Worldwide One, a conglomerate of San Doradan and Shroomanian architects intend to build a supertall skyscraper under the tentative name Burj Arabia in the newfangled city.

"We wanted to call it the 'Burj Shroomia' first" joked one architect, "but we were afraid the Shinra Republic would bomb us before it'd be completed!" If Byzantine authorities give the go-ahead for the building, the Burj Arabia will be the tallest building in the world once completed.

Construction in Arabiapolis continues at brisk pace.

Enterprising Shroomanian, San Doradan and Byzantine businessmen have converged on Arabiapolis, with Byzantine Heavy Industries and other construction companies heavily involved in construction of various buildings. The new business district and downtown district are soon to be filled with skyscrappers of various heights all reaching for the sky. It is expected that the city would be ready for business in 4-5 years time.

The technicians were just about finished. They were swarming over increasingly nervous Chim Chim for more than an hour, fitting him into his specially designed Monkey Spacesuit. Prime Minister Shroom 777 was there, too - having insisted to walk the little monkey to its space capsule before it blasted poor Chim Chim into space.

The great white room was full of equipment Shroom didn't understand, but he managed to restrain himself from pestering the white suited technicians about it. His head was hurting from the half-hour technicial briefing he received in the morning, where a stern faced safety inspector bombarded the Prime Minister with procedures and technical details.

Goddamn...walk through the north door...or was it south door?

Shroom's attempts at remembering anything from the briefing were cut short when a technician finally led Chim Chim towards him, and handed the monkey over.

"Hey there, little buddy! High five!", Shroom said, jokingly and stretched out his hand. Chim Chim promptly slapped it in a classic high five.

"Uh, sorry...I taught him that", one of the techs apologized, seeing the Prime Minister grab his palm and try not to scream in pain, "He kinda doesn't know how hard to do it, though."

"It's...", Goddammmit!, "Uh, it's okay. Really, no problem. Let's go!"

The pair started walking towards the north door, and were promptly turned around and pointed to the south. Satisfied with how things were going so far, Shroom started to give Chim Chim his pre-flight pep talk.

"Listen here, Chim Chim! I know you're nervous, the entire world's watching you, but you've had your training. You know what to do."

Chim Chim looked up at Shroom and made an unspecified monkey noise.

As the large door to the Suiting Room slid open, Shroom patted Chim Chim on the back.

"God speed!"

Chim Chim smiled and scratched his butt in response, just as the camera flashes began. Shroom walked him out of the building, and onto the little electric bus that would take them to the rocket. The man and the monkey looked each other in the eyes.

"Ook?", said Chim Chim. Shroom looked around and replied, "Ook!"

"Ook oook ik?", the monkey asked in return.

"Indeed.", Shroom nodded solemnly

MUSHROOM MILITARY + FUNGAL UNION DISEASE DEPARTMENT (FUDD)

In accordance with the ratified Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological, Viral and Fungal (Biological) Weapons and on Their Destruction to be implemented by the Bioweapons International Oversight Committee (BIOCOM), the Mushroom Military - with international BIOCOM and local FUDD oversight - will begin the eradication of existing stockpiles of weaponized bio-agents.

The Mushroom Military and the FUDD have outlined the necessary procedures to achieve this goal, the process will be called BREAD: Bioweapons Reduction, Elimination and Assured Destruction. The BREAD will be an incremental process that will begin with the reduction of existing stockpiles, and then their safe elimination. The destruction of these agents will be assured, as local and international overseers will be observing the process from its beginning to its completion.

It was a busy day for the Premier, so busy in fact that he didn't have time for lunch. So he had to settle for a sandwich. Sofia left to visit her sister in Sjenska and he was left to fend for himself. He wasn't doing a good job of it. He ate his lunch while talking to his Generals via teleconference. "Everything is proceeding well, Sir.", General Alexander Romanov said, "We had a few minor incidents, but our 'respond in force policy' is doing wonders with stabilizing the area."

"Good. Keep it up.", Shady said, "Anything else?"

"No Sir.", the generals responded.

"Very well. Goodbye gentlemen.", he said and pushed a button to end the conversation.

"I need a vacation.", he thought to himself. His thoughts were interrupted by Kane, who opened the door without knocking. "Greetings Comrade Premier.", Kane said, "We have to talk."

"All work and no play makes Shady a dull boy.", Shady joked while eating his sandwich, "What's wrong now?"

"Sir.", Kane began slowly, carefully considering his words, "It's Sofia."

Shady's facial expression changed from a smile to more concerned look instantly.

"What?", he said.

"She's disappeared.", Kane almost chocked on the words.

"What do you mean disappeared?", Shady shouted, "How? What?"

"Someone attacked her sisters house. Killed the sister and her husband, and took Sofia.", Kane said, "It happened during the night. The two NOD agents assigned to protect her are dead. I have already began an investigation, but there isn't much to go on. The perpetrators were obviously professionals."

"Son of a Bitch.", Shady shouted and slammed his fist into the table, "You find her, Kane. You find her now! I don't care what you have to do, who you have to kill...Just Find her!"

"Yes, Sir.", Kane said.

Shady picked up his laptop and smashed it into the wall, he then proceeded to tare apart the rest of the room; swearing like a maniac.

"Goddamn sons of bitches!", he shouted angrily, "One enemy dies and a new one rises to take his place. Will it never end?"

Meanwhile in Sjenska...

"So who's the girl?", Edin asked his new guests, who were carrying an unconscious Sofia into the house.

"That's not your problem.", one of the men answered him, "You were paid to keep your mouth shut and provide us with a safehouse."

"My apologies.", Edin said, "My basement is at your disposal. Everything you need is already there."

"Excellent.", the man said, "Make sure nobody knows we're here."

"No need to worry, I'm a professional.", Edin smiled.

"I hope so for your sake. Our boss has a low tolerance for idiots.", the man said and followed his friends into the basement.

The little electric bus drove straight towards the towering spaceship. Shroom had never seen any of the Mercury ships up close, and it was amazing just how large this thing was. He kept up appearances, chatting away with Chim Chim to the amusement of the bus driver, but something crept into his soul. The ship was menacing his little monkey friends.

"Ook", Chim Chim said to comfort his friend, "Eeek ook."

"I know...", Shroom replied. The bus stopped, and opened the door.

The ships looked even scarier now. The huge rocket was suspended entirely over empty space, and the launch tower groaned in the wind, waving ever so slightly. The machinery was breathtaking, awe-inspiring. There were no journalists here - just ground crewmen, one of whom approached the weird human-monkey pair.

"She's a beauty, ja?", Walter Wendt commented, stretching out his hand, "Drei hundert tonnes of high explozeeves!"

"Uh...who are you?", Shroom asked, still in awe of the rocket. The comment about it being filled with high explosives didn't exactly fill him with hope.

"Ja, excuze me. Mein name is Wendt, I am zee pad fuhrer. I vill ezcort you to zee capsule.", the man introduced himself. His accent wasn't quite Shrooman, but the Prime Minister couldn't quite place it.

Wendt led them towards the elevator. Every step taken closer towards the rocket - the sleeping behemoth - made Shroom more and more nervous. Chim Chim pattet him on the hend and made soothin monkey noises.

The lift started moving up, giving everyone inside an excellent view of the rocket.

"Ja, das ist ein klein rocket. Ten years in the future, you vill see rockets ten times bigger!", Wendt wouldn't shut up about the rocket, which didn't exactly help.

The lift cage stopped suddendly, with a jolt, which made Shroom cry out - but just a little. Smiling technicians escorted them across the gantry, where an open hatch awaited Chim Chim. The techs gently took over for Shroom.

"Oook!", were Chim Chim's final words before he disappeared inside the spacecraft. Shroom waved goodbye to him, doing his best not to look down. The gantry was made of girders, and one could see right throught it. All the way down.

Three hours later

"Ten...nine...eight...seven...ignition sequence start...six...five...four...three...two...one...liftoff! We have liftoff! The rocket has cleared the tower!", the Launch Controlled called out, his voice audible across the launch complex.



"See you in six days, friend!", Shroom uttered in a whisper, watching the rocket go up.

Wilkonian Air Service announces latest acquisition

With the demise of shepistan and the retreat of Imperial Japanistan into seculsion the Wilkonian Air Service has been in the process of retooling its operational forces to meet the requirements of the next century of warfare. Foemost amongst concerns planners held was the lack of available Close Air Support in sustained format. While precision weapons delivery has increased over the years and both marine Corps and Army artillery is now immensely faster at keeping pace with forces the need was still present for long loiter time close air support. Today in a step to adress this concern the Wilkonian Air Service took two steps.

First is the announcement of the design award and LRIP contract for a new generation close air support craft, the AC-130V. Fielding is expected to take place by the end of FY11 as the airframe is consitent with the already highly used and well known C-130 airframe. The new aircraft is, hwoever, extensively modified to provide cotninuous precision or saturation fire support to ground forces or to engage in interdiction missions using its 105mm cannon and twin 40mm single barrel auto-cannons.

The second announcement is the deactivation ofthe 12th Bomber Wing. The Wing and its component squadrons are being turned over to the newly established Wilkonian Air Reserve. While the wing will not be fully deactivated until the two new squadrons of tactical craft are in place officials expect at least one more active duty wing will be palced in reserve status before the end of the first fiscal quarter in 2011.

Today the Imperial Marine Corps announced that MEU 13 (SOC) has engaged in its first action to help stabalise the situaiton in what was once known as East Shepistan. The region as a whole was decimated by the Bio-Warfare attacks during the last war and only recently have the Old Dominion and the MESS's Joint Task Force 20 begun to attempt to re-enter and reconsitute lawful authority over the region.

With the plauge mostly having burnt out Commander of Naval Forces CJTF-20 Adm Sir William Halstead ordered the Marines to begin initial landings to establish a supply staging point ashore for follow on peacekeeping and humanitarian forces.The troubles and breakdown in civil authority following the plauges led to widespread damage to the already limited commercial shipping and landing zones therefore the decision was made to establish a new base of oeprations with WIlkonian equipment only and no chance of remaining biological material to contaminate the humanitarian rations which are enroute onboard all available Auxilliary vessels.



Authorities have not yet commented on whether an follow on forces will join the embarked Battalion Landing Team nor how much of a mission they will be given in securing civil control over East Shepistan.

The Sovereign Scientific Society is proud to announce a breakthrough in Shroomanian Stem Cell research. By harvesting cells from many, many human embryos, Shroomanian scientists have successfully created functional human brain tissues out of the collected stem cells.

The Scientific Society's previous experiments, using nearly as much harvested human embryos, have resulted in stem cells specializing into brain cells - neurons - but never before had they formed functioning tissues.

Special story: Massive health code violations found at fast food restaurants throughout PeZookia

In a huge health inspection following the Pathogen Wars, PeZookian health inspectors raided more than 1300 restaurants and fast-food establishents throughout the country.

A massive report was released to the public yesterday, detailing the inspector's findings. Out of 1322 restaurants checked, 67% showed violations of basic health code, out of which 12% had to be closed immediately pending further investigation.

Several of these restaurants belonged to the industry giants BnL and McMill's. Inspectors found examples of gross mismanagement, carelesness and downright negligence in many of these outlets, including use of days-old cooking oil, substandard meat, ignoring hygene regulations and sometimes even cockroaches and/or rat droppings in food preparation spaces.

A special resolution was released today by the PeZookian Health Board to temporarily close down BnL and McMill's fast food chains, pending additional inspections. Sources indicate that supermarkets, processing plants and factories owned by the two giants will see visits from the Board inspectors.

"We've suspected those places of shady business practies for a long time, but lacked the resources for a massive raid like this one. Smaller inspections really didn't give us a proper picture."

Result: PeZookian health inspectors decide to go after BnL and McMill's. Wether the actis politically motivated or an actual attempt at stamping out health code violations remains to be seen...

Stepped up inspections of restaurants
The recent closure of BnL and McMill's fast food restaurants in Pezookia has led to Byzantine authorities stepping up their own inspections of these restaurants. Many have been closed due to failure to follow federal safety codes and their companies have been sued by the state. The companies have yet to release a public statement.

BnL Headqaurters, Port Victory-In Responce to the recent scandal, BnL President Shebly Forthwright personnaly fired the Head of the Company's PeZookian administration, placed over 50 top employees under inspection for corruption as well as calling for a general increase of Saftey checks and measures in the company's top administration. "Exactly how it got to this point we do not know, however we are commited to saftey and quality for our consumers and we will respond to this slip up quickly and deciecively."

However, many people in the Kingdom's population have pointed to the fact that a similar inspection blitz had befell more than 2,000 resteraunts and fast food franchises in Zoria only a few months back and not finding anywhere near the level of health violations at BnL Burger as was present in PeZookia, accusing PeZookian Health inspection authorities to be driven with politically motivated Bias to single out international competition.

With the recent signing of the Cancun Biological Weapons Accord the Supreme Sovereign lived up to his name, bypassing the Senate in favour of just declaring his signature to equal law in this case. Following the recent raids on BnL and McGill restaurants, the companies have been hulled up to courts. Executives may receive 2 year jail terms, and the companies fined 5million each. "Health safety was atrocious. You had dustbins that were not cleared and overflowing. Then you have them using animal oils, despite the ban on them and a recommendation that they use vegetable oil. They have been warned before, and this is the second and final warning."

Not all A380 and A340 aircraft are expected to adopt MP-RTIP radar but rather a VHF radar meant to detect stealth aircraft. The army is expected to either buy another 16 A330 Phalcon aircraft or adopt an A330 with MP-RTIP radar. As of now, the army has not indicated its intent, pending current discussions on whether or not to transfer all Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche III aircraft to the Army.
