Why does it say "Not Approved by Lucasfilm" on the cover? Did the other cross section books say the same?

It probably means that the cover is not final.

I think that could be just the picture of the cover, because the text doesn't match with anything else on the book, and since it also has the Lucasbooks stamp in the corner, I'm assuming that it's maybe something like a WIP version or just not absolutely finalised.

None of the others say that, so I think it's just a picture thing.

I know, what the anti-Saxton-fraction will make of this.

I just pre-ordered it, and it says "estimated ship date: August 3, estimated delivery date: August 4"

We'll see what happens.

Well, in any case, Uts, DPDP and I plan on going out to Best Buy tomorrow, so we'll swing by B&N and check if it's there...

The "Not Approved By Lucasfilm" statement is scaring the shit out of me, Im hoping its just there to indicate it isnt the final cover design.

Yes, they put that kind of thing on lots of in-production books. Remember that the book is being promoted by the official Star Wars site...why would they do that if they didn't approve the book?

It's not on the cover pic I found on starwars.com

If you'd read (:P), you'd see that I ordered it today, and Amazon predicted its delivery on the 4th. I'll keep you posted.

F or some reason I'm rather doubtful Amazon has already released it.

On the DK site itself they seem to say August 16th, and that if you try to "add it to cart" it says its not been published yet.

Further, if you check Barnes and Noble, it says it won't be available til August 27th.

Also if you click on the link Ender provided above under availability it says the book hasn't yet been released. Somehow I think they messed up. :P

Oh well, at least it's coming out this month. :)

Im fairly certain it has been released because a number of Chapters/Indigo bookstores in Toronto Canada, list as having several copies on hand.

EDIT, just to be on the safe side, sometimes those on hand listings are inaccurate (I know especially since I work at a Chapters) so I'll give one of the stores a call tommorow and get them to check on it just to make sure.

What I'm hoping is that Amazon got some in early, and mistakenly updated their release date with their receive date rather than the actual shipping date, and that they won't catch the mistake, and will send me mine now.

But I'm not holding my breath.

I doubt it is. If the dk site itself says they haven't been published yet, where did the other places get em?

Well, regardless of the weird date listed on Amazon, if books are anything like movies, the publishing company ships them out to distributors at least a week before their street date. How else will they ensure even distribution on the street date?

That IS what happens with books. Stores will typically get their orders a week or five days before the release date, to help ensure that every distributor will have them on-hand when they ARE released.
