My trek history is a little rusty, but was the Enterprise that Kirk captained the very first? If not, why can't this Enterprise be launched first?

It was the first with the 1701 registry number but there was of course the NX-01 Enterprise captained by Archer in the ENT series.

In DS9, when they needed to cut through a bulkhead, they brought out a special cutting tool instead of using their hand phasers. I even have a picture of that scene somewhere in my canon database IIRC.

Victor says it was "fused" rather than welded. Well, Vic, "to fuse" means "to blend two or more substances by melting," or, in the context of fusing the duranium plating, to fucking weld them together.

I mean, there's a reason they call these "throwaway lines," twit.
