She was not entirely defeated, and maintained her dignity even when embarassed like she was. Kirk was concilliatory towards her. Note that even Spock was not unmoved, which leads me to think that the 'seduction' approach was not even planned but actually genuine. Observe the two's conversation in the turbolift at the end of the episode: Spock has so got a hard on for this chick, in his own dorky stoic sort of way.

According to the account given by David Gerrold in his book The World Of Star Trek, that was the network's idea and they had it grafted onto Dorothy Fontana's script. She actually went to the set and apologised to Leonard Nimoy, telling him flatly that she didn't write the scene. It was Nimoy and Joanne Linville who improvised the more Vulcan-esque "seduction" involving the entire finger-touching sequence rather than simply having Spock and the Commander slobbering all over one another. Worked beautifully because it built upon the whole Vulcan mystique which had evolved in the series and the two actors were more than equal to the challenge.

The only show I'd be in favor of ditching from continuity totally would be Enterprise (Voyager is such a minor note in Trek history in the grand scheme it could be easily ignored).

I for one would like to see a show about Robert April's stint aboard the Enterprise. However, I thought it would be interesting to get an idea of galactic politics. The TOS Starfleet seemed devoid of aliens, maybe it would be interesting if Starfleet was a human-dominated institution that tried to keep aliens out of it?

Basically try to chart the course of humans growing to accept aliens, and the Federation being something beyond an economic/military alliance?

Id like a series about ST Era Crooks. Small Maquis-Raider sized ship with a small screw of scumbags robbing and pillaging its way through the universe. Maybe a disgraced former SF officer among them who was on the path to commandbefore a few of his indiscretions caught up to him.
