Its taken years for the Sovereign class to grow on me, and its still one of my least favorite ship classes. This is like the Sovereign on a bad acid trip.
Hum I thought the Sovereign looked better than the Galaxy class. But then I don't like that wide saucer shape makes the ship look like a pancake. Might be why I like Star Wars ships. Also the Steamrunner looks like in might be more sound structure wise than E-J

The Steamrunner is about as good as you'll see in modern Trekships. The only things I can think of that are better are the Defiant and possibly the Miranda.

The Nebula is another good design.

I agree. The Galaxy looked like a piece of shit. I much prefer the more streamlined look of the Sovereign class.

at least the galaxy didn't look like it could be snapped apart like a twig. the nacelle design looks like shit.

One of the problems is that the saucer and engineering sections don't look anything like they belong together, like they were just slapped randomly together without any thought to continuity of design.

Actually the Galaxy is my favorite class, go figure.
But I agree, it doesnt exactly look like a great idea from a structural standpoint.

The Galaxy has its moments. Trouble is, for me anyway, that the angles the special effects guys liked to use largely suck. Other rarely used angles can be very intimidating instead of looking like, I don't know, not intimidating? :P

Oh Lord, I just realised that not only can I not really tell how many decks the damn saucer section has, I can't even tell how much of the saucer is even attached to the secondary hull.

It really does look like they took a stretched out D7, tilted the head down a little, and jammed a frisbee into the bottom of the head with an angled gap between the neck and the saucer.

I'm betting that at any other angles, this ship would look even more rediculous than it does now...

What we need are different angle shots and some schematics for this ship. Sadly we have none. At certain angles the secondary structure appears attached, at others it doesn't.

Wait, that's the Enterprise D in the top pic, right? I can see the registry number. Yet the saucer impulse engines are active. Weren't you making a big deal earlier about how they never were on the first flight Galaxies unless the saucer was detached?

Take a look at the registry on the Miranda in the DS9 shot. Better yet, look at its name. Its the Reliant.

The Fleet Musem makes two obvious mistakes as well. They used the wrong model for the Enterprise-B and they have the A missing on the Connie Refit. Technicaly they have the same ship side by side. Two NCC-1701s.

The Connie didn't get the "A" when it got the refit. It was still the NCC-1701, no bloody A, B, C or D. The 1701-A didn't come along until the fourth movie.

Fifth movie. Fourth was the one with the whales. Unless they slipped the A in at the end.

Yeh, they did, last minute, travel pod rises past excelsior to see Enterprise A, "My Friends, we've come home" or something, then they test the ship and film ends on Ent-A going to warp.

Bastards... Oh well, it just makes the fourth movie that much better.

As for the poster. I must agree with Kuja, that Reliant Enterprise fight looks SO sweet.

The Fleet Museum is supposed to be EVERY Enterprise. It currently has the same ship TWICE. They fucked up and didn't put the A on the Connie Refit design.

As Alyeska points out, the 1701 and it's refit are the same ship, hence 'refit'- the A was a new build.

I like the Constellation class. I don't think Stargazer is more of a waste than, say, the NX-01 or E-J.
