Hey! We are not chitinous!

Oooh. Pork [slavers mindlessly]

Also, you have official permission to have the Gron envoy swear by Trogdor! :D

I think it would make sense for the Brags to invite first the nations that it has known for a while, since its first encounter with the Lost was in the BEEEF and folks would still be trying to make heads or tails out of 'em.

Quick question - would I know about the Shinrans discovering the MEH's slaveship? Has anybody in the know let me know what they know?

Anglia might; the Umerians haven't mentioned it. Remember that Shinra is specifically trying to avoid word getting out. I'm half surprised they even informed us, though we've shown enough interest in coalition warfare lately that it may make more sense than I'd think.

I pointed this out in PM to Shroom but I think it bears repeating here that, as others have mentioned previously, being inhumane is generally not enough reason to actually start a war. In reality groups like the Khmer Rouge tortured millions of people, including citizens of other countries and got away with it for years. So, absent of other reasons going to war with the MEH will probably be an illegal act of aggression. Of course, this probably doesn't bother some factions but I think this general point does create some interesting RP scenarios.

Eh? Why do they not work? Is there a specific error message?

Hey Thanas, what is your government's official position on the existence of space daemons? :D

Have a very nice day.

First off, can you see the pictures?

Second: The official position is that....there is no position. As long as they do not threaten Sassanid space, the Sassanids would probably think of them like just another state. A nation that lives close to speaking bears would not find speaking eyes that unusual.

I can see them, yes.

And speaking bears is fairly tame compared to the what's out there. Now, a nation of hypnotoads, that's another matter entirely :D

Have a very nice day.

This is what I see Thanases. It might be just me. I dunno. I saw that in other people's posts in other places too. OH NO.

EDIT:

FUCKS! Even your sig picture, FGALKIN, it comes out looking leik that!

Does that happen in all my posts or just some? What browser are you using?

EDIT: I do not see how photobucket might help, seeing as how fgalkin's sig is from there.

I can't see any of your pictures. My corporate firewall blocks "private storage sites" but for some reason doesn't block direct images from Photobucket.

Hmmm. Does the same thing happen at home?

Not usually.

Were I to speculate, Shrooms shitty Filipino ISP throttled back to block those images, which is why he is getting red exes as well.

Fgalkin's Soviet soldier picture is okay. But I cannot see the "userbar" in his sig. It appears just like how Thanas' pics look like in my screencap, a yellow imageshack frog thing in an ice.

Weird.

Well, this isn't related to the STGOD and is more internet issues.

Could you check at home then (once you get there) and tell me if the problem still persists? Because the pictures are usually quite important in my posts...

Userbar is from imageshack. So, Shroom's Filipino ISP is to blame.

Oh noes, Shroomarcos stole your internets AGAIN!

The Lifestream may or may not even be real, at this point. I haven't decided.

Finally got that Zebes chapter up. Hoping the rest goes faster; last week was pretty shitty and I got very little written.

In this case, the realpolitik justification is "The MEH are a powerful unknown who, in a very short time, proved that they are willing and happy to upset the galactic balance of power without knowing or caring what the consequences of their actions will be. That makes them a threat."

The idealistic justification is rather weaker, yes.

The heroes rally! Cosmog's revengeance slays a Prussian ship! The Frod risks all! The Centralites show the Moogle What For. The multinational task force unites to save Muckenburger. Von Mussel shows his badassitude and opens the way. The Zoreans end the chapter with a fun note of post-spelling! This is the Battle of Zebes!

Which is why I will show Klavostan as being perhaps among the most reluctant members of this coalition - we probably could've sat there and manipulated them well into the future, but since everyone else wants to jump them so badly... especially once the Orks and the Emissaries take their respective cracks at them.... that we may as well jump in to make sure the situation ends in a way we can live with, instead of it turning into an even bigger problem.

Another thing to factor in is that the standards of international relations change over times. Things that would have been considered a legitimate reason to fight a war a thousand years ago (say, because you personally feel you were robbed of your rightful inherited land) are no longer valid reasons. Things that would be considered absurd reasons to fight a today may well become valid reasons in the future.

In this case, there's a custom, and never mind how, that large scale endorsement in sentient trafficking is a somewhat viable pretext for war in its own right, at least for nations whose citizens are involved. When it is combined with the fact that the MEH is a grotesque garbage heap on the international scene- equivalent to the crazy retarded kid who wanders around the neighborhood making vaguely threatening remarks and showing up on your doorstep without warning at odd hours- it's understandable that people are willing to put a fair amount of energy into being rid of them.
