Havok, I'm not convinced by your arguments but neither are you by mine and there's no progress being made. I will therefore not try any further to change your opinion (do you even remember what this was about originally?). So let's agree to disagree.

Yeah, well except not, Palpatine survived Anakin's attempt on his life and came back stronger than ever, albeit less mentally stable. Blame the EU for ruining Lucas' narrative.

ETA:
The Sith can never be beaten completely, not as long as there are Jedi with a penchant to always stumble upon Sith holocrons and fall to the Dark Side at the most inopportune of moments. Could it be that the only real way to beat the Sith is to also get rid of the Jedi?

We are talking about a title of nobility. People do just turn over that amount of money and power to someone they've never met when those are involved.
Only if ties to that nobility are kept. Dooku, through his demeanor obviously kept those ties. He also supposedly visited his homeworld as a child already in the care of the Jedi.

Based on on demeanor? How so? And where do you get that he visited his homeworld as a child? All we know is that he was told of his parentage, nothing else.

Dark Empire's Palpatine was a flailing psychopath obsessed with recreating Darth Vader in Luke Skywalker while taking over the galaxy by strength of arms. In other words, the same basic plan tried by generations of Sith and the resulting failure was no different here. There was no need for a second, unique event like the birth of Anakin Skywalker to defeat the reborn Emperor; the Jedi and their allies were more then enough. Whatever it was that the Force itself felt it needed to act against in the Banite Sith Order either was ended by Anakin at Endor or was lost by Palpatine in his madness after his death. Either way, the Force could then act through its traditional agents of the Jedi against the remains of the Banite Sith Order.

The Banite Sith Order was beaten completely in the original movie trilogy. The fact that other branches of the Sith philosophy have risen after the fact does not make them the same thing, merely that more Dark Side Force-users have claimed the name. After all, a later Sith Lord Darth Krayt was declared a false Sith and his Order a mere mockery of the "real" Sith by a trio of ancient Sith holocrons. The Sith of various guises and eras can all be beaten. Destroying the Sith permanently and forever is something only Lucas could answer I warrant.

Or Lucas just doesn't care about EU storylines. Works for me.

Not really important, the banite Sith themselves started as heretics of the Brotherhood of Darkness and the Sith Order itself is a creation of heretical Jedi. It carries as much weight as the bickering of protestants and catholics about how much Jesus is contained in a wafer.

The only "real" Sith were the alien race that went by that name.
