They look only marginally larger there.

I don't think they look like ARC troopers at all, doesn't even seem to be the same uniform, it seems to be the regular uniform with some extra gear.

As for size, there's nothing to contrast them against.

Size of the helmet relative to the trooper's body in the original pic?
The Official Site wrote:Born of Jango Fett's genetic material, the ARC troopers are an elite contingent of clone troopers exhibiting even greater independence and adaptability than the standard soldiers of the line.
Oh they're ARC troopers definitely according to the caption.

Doesn't really look different to me, at most it'd be due to angles I'd say.
I would propose to freeze this matter until more visuals on ARC troopers can be found.

They don't really look like the Slab McLargehuge in the first image...

Illuminatus Primus wrote:It's patently retarded HDS. You can put as big of a power armor for spacemarine use as you want on a bigger trooper. But a physically larger trooper is inefficient and neccessitates a larger armor for the same weapons and defense a smaller one would neccessitate.
They can wear heavier and stronger armor(which can also be powered ofcourse, and the armor itself can contain more equipment and such) and more equipment, internally they can put, say more hearts and other genetically engineered custom organs and/or cybernetic enhanchments to create an elite fighting solider, very 40k'ish.
They can easily wield those large weapons wich I suspect can take out vehicles and infantry with ease.
If the armor is truly powered, the size of the user wouldn't matter. You are using the armor's strength, not the user's. If the user is smaller, it means that less internal space in the suit is wasted.

Exactly what my point was. Thank you.

EDIT: Republic #50 Summary available here.

An attack force to take out a planet and the only defense is a squadron of Jedi Starfighters?

EU minimalism.

Making the SW universe dumber, one publication at a time.

Best fix I can come up with is that Kamino was highly secure and the only ships that could get there in time were the Jedi. As well there could've been more fighting off screen, but most of it in the comic was confined to talking about Kamino's capital. It also appeared to be a Seperatist sneak attack, with a single carrier (Trade Federation Battleship), as opposed to a full-scale assault.

Your polarizing the issues, it's either powered and the user matters not, or it's not powered, could it not be 50/50?
It depends on to which the degree the user's own strenght matters, in this scenario, a possibe Ion strike could down the suit, trapping the user, in the other it wouldn't matter since the user is strong enough to move the suit by his own strenght, or ofcourse the whole powered part is dispensed with wholly.

There are also other complicated issues in making a suit that does not fit physically, I'm sure these are obvious, especially in controlling the suit and gyroscopic issues, moving your own body in such a suit is nearly impossible, you'd essentially require a neural interface.

There's also the issue of size/effiency ratios, would said internal space differences really matter?

In a purely mathematical situation it would, but thats not a truly certain method of measuring it, it has to do with the size/effiency ratios of the tech and how it can be stacked most effectivly in a suit.

I'd believe(note this, believe) they do not use motors and acutators and stuff like that for suit muscles(assuming the suit is at all powered, which I doubt), I think they would use artificial muscle fibres that would not take much space, they'd just line the inner surface of the suit, or inbetween the suits layers.

With recent pics they might not have highly augmented bodies or suits as it is.

And ARC Troopers = Advanced Recon Troopers
