not bad, I can see it looks to be a cousin of the Akira class, this is something that Starfleet would actually design.

oh, and Patrick Degan I gotta say that was pretty funny.
Patrick Degan wrote:It has SELF REGENERATING HULL skin, a MULTIPHASIC DELFECTOR CANNON which also acts as the primary weapon - able to fire a plasma ball of extreme destructive power, and finally, a GALACTIC DRIVE.
This is what is generally known as "whipping one's skippy".

She can land on planets, go underwater etc. and has a compliment of ICOPRELIATOR CLASS Fighters in the large rear hanger.

This bit doubtless was typed one-handed.

That looks a bit like where the Reliant lineage might've split off into the Akira.

I always figured it was the evolution of the Miranda and Centuar sometime in the early to mid 23rd century. Before the Ambassador but after the Centuar.

The design predates the NX-class by many years; it was first published in Jackill's Ships of Starfleet Vol. II: Perimeter Action Ships in the early 1990s.

I agree. Whatever the merits (or lack thereof) of the actual mesh, the design is butt ugly. But that's not what kojikun said. He criticized the execution of the design as much as he criticized the design itself. That is what I had an issue with.

Why do you have an issue with it? I said it was ugly and that it was a ridiculously simple thing to make. Is there something WRONG with me saying that it's fucking easy to make?

You also said that the texturing was shit and the lighting was horrid. Don't try to change the subject.

Basically a TNG-era version of the Miranda-class, but a sensible design nonetheless.

And how the hell does that change a damn thing? So I commented on more then just design, big fucking deal.

Oh, and wait, whats this? The first post asked, 'what do you think' not 'what do you think of the design!' So I was entirely justified and not overstepping the original intent of this thread. I expect a public appology.

It is a big fucking deal. As you've just shown, you don't have any idea what the hell you're talking about. You aren't defending your statements, you're just saying "its not a big deal."

Concession accepted.

That first design looks more like a fighter. Stick a bubble canopy on it and call it such.

A ship should resemble a *ship*, not look like a fighter.

I refer back again to the Akyazi-class design. It looks very distinctly shiplike, and more importantly, very distinctly Starfleet (amusingly, we now can place it in a line of design evolution with NX at the beginning and Akira in the 24th century, and lo and behold it FITS!), while at the same time being quite different from anything seen in Trek before (published in 1992).

Oddly, I didn't like the design much when I first saw it in the early 90s, I thought it was too small and flat to be a "good" Star Trek design. Of course, now, with hideous skate-shaped monstrosities joining the canon of Star Trek on virtually a weekly basis, the Akyazi-class design looks like one of the best Trek designs, canon or non-canon, ever.

Being a horrible visual artist, all of my attempts to draw starships have ended in pitiful failure.

However, nearly four years ago while planning the movie Death of Angels 6 with Matt "IceFire" Schuette, I got a modeler/animator on SB, Omar Chaudry, to kitbash a Sovereign from Rob Caves' old website into a crossover series design I'd once made. IceFire then gave it the proper hull textures for a reason about to be made obvious.

I present to you the Solaris-class:

That said, most of the ships I've designed mentally are rather ugly. But they weren't built to win beauty contests, they were built to destroy enemy naval elements, and one can't make asthetically-pleasing naval warships when one's multiversal commitments in the Great Game Story Debate means trying to keep up with the Walls of Battle of powerful states like the Ottoman Star Empire (a Webertech ATL created by Her Grace the Duchess of Zeon :)).

Best ship I've seen so far in this thread if the one Iceberg posted. That first ships is.... fugly.
