What spells do I see with know potections and detect magic? Mages will shine like becons
You see around a dozen mages scattered across the battlefield, glowing with magical energy.
The gate itself appears close to being broken, but the hobgoblins driving the battering ram have been killed, and the ram itself is mere splinters.

Alyrium: Your spell takes shape as a crackling wall of energy, which drives through the slave drivers like tissue paper. Their scorched corpses seem to disinheart the slaves even more. And then, Caoimhin appears.
Most of them do not hear hm, but those in the very front lines seem to pause, and then, they wheel about, screaming in rage and pouring over the surviving slavers, tearing them to pieces. The rest of the slaves see this defiant act, and take their own course of action, namely running away as fast as they can.

Torm: Your lightning bolt carves into the slaves with ease, and many of them drop their weapons and flee. However, a man wearing the rough woolshirt of a slave raises his hands and begin uttering the beginnings of a spell.

OOC: Missed another one.
Seeing the slavers being chunkified and fried, in no particular order, Rahnort brings his shield up in front, braces his back foot, and brings his hammer up to his side, taking his defensive stance. He procedes to throw his hammer at the nearest slavers, and then braces himself for the outcoming rush.

**WHEN we resume, that spellcaster is going to be Torm's main target with physical attacks. When I get home from work, I'll look up her SpellResistance as well**

(No it simply proves that he hasnt managed to keep time straight...and that you're not above manipulations, which is hardly a suprise. It isnt a theory, it's how things have happened so far.)

and that you're not above manipulations,
(I would be offended, were it not for the fact that I know you have good evidence to base that on.)
It isnt a theory, it's how things have happened so far.
(It is? I havn't been tracking the timeline myself, hold on.)

Well, I'm gonna be insanely busy during this weekend as well. Let's just leave the battle on hiatus, and we'll pick up Monday.
That cool with everyone?

Bah, you guys are evil. Anyways, since Laz gave me Kazaa, I'll update for him as a favor.
Now as for the battle...*ominious music begins*
---------------------------------------------------------
Astinius: You feel woozy all of a sudden, falling flat on your face against the ground. Lights flash before you, pictures of your life, sounds and emotions all bunched in one endless stream of thought. Your body vanishes, and your mind spreads out, infinitely far it seems, soaring through a black morass full of the sparks of distant souls, which reach out to you in desperation. They grab at you with cold hands and talons, trying to wretch you from your flight. But then you feel their hands leave your mind, replaced by a glowing warmth, and a familair voice, as you ascend into a realm of sightless power and grace. You
know this place, as if you've been here all your life. Warmth covers you entirely, penetrating to the deepest core of your mind. You should have felt revulsion at this intimate intrusion, but all you feel is a calmness that feels utterlly natural.
Then, the hands withdraw, and voice speaks to you, that a of a woman.
Welcome Astinius..do not be frightened. Your body is unharmed..and you will recover quickly.

As he catapulted through the planes, Astinius could only describe the feeling as 'magical' it was the same feeling he got when he cast spells only magnified a million times. The souls did not bother him, it was anecessary route to get to the plane he KNEW he was headed for.... And he recognzed that voice. She whispered to him when he prayed, she talked to him in his dreams. He recognized her from bfore the time of troubles when they had met at a mage-fair and dueled... It was Midnight, or Mystra rather. He used the two interchangably sometimes.
"How could I be afraid of you Mystra my Lady? You were a friend before your ascension and the weave has brought me comfort in my darkest hours since my birth. Tis an honour being in your presence."

by Captain tycho
Mystra smiles at you warmly, and continues.
I have called you here for an important task, loyal Astinius. Too long have I watched as magical corruption filled Toril, until I myself felt weakened. My Chosen are too few to counter this ever-growing corruption, and the other wizards in good standing with me simply cannot handle the task of this magnitude. You must fight against this with all of your heart, for I am being weakened even now by these reckless uses of magic. Even one who you have fought by has been tempted by it. I cannot allow this to continue, and we must not sally anymore. I charge you with either neutralizing or stopping this flood. The other Chosen will help you as they can, and I will impart some of my power into you, but then you shall be alone. But do not fear, your own abilities are great, and I have no doubt that you will succeed. Farewell...
You wake up suddenly, standing exactly where you were standing before, the instant before you left, the sounds of battle breaking you from your reverie.
Lazerus: Your fireball rips into the ranks of hobgolins, but they take no notice from it. However, the chain lightning spell you unleashed upon them rips through their armor like paper, dropping 4 of them and greatly wounding another 5.

Another Quickened Fireball into their lines, and lightning bolt at a mage.
I then attack a random hostile with my sword.

"Thy will be done my lady"
Astinius takes ooff the giggles, still being able to see the magic that protects the mages in the battle.
"First thing is first, I must end this battle quickly... Then the mages that act as those of ancient Netheril will be destroyed, as well as users of that abominable shadow weave"
Seeing the mages in the battle, he took a risk... the one that was going to fry Torma first...
he let his mind slip into the familiar and wonderful level of spellcasting... his hands worked to unleash the Bane of Mages... feeblemind.
