Oh and Baerne. You got your maths wrong again, you forgot to convert those 40 points back to troop points when you took them from your fleet. you have 40 unspent troop points if i'm correct. 1250-1210*2=80 40 of which is spent.

He's still has 20x 20pt battlecruisers for 300 pts.

Everything is now as it should be. (I had someone else check it, since I've proven so unreliable.)

How about we fire up a diplomacy thread, just so to start to "get in character" while we still finish the details?

I must appologise for not having an OOB up yet. I've been busy and I've had trouble deciding what exactly I want to play. I'll try to have it up tomorrow night at the very latest, if we're going to be starting a diplomacy thread now.

This is my first STGOD, so I've been cramming the rules (not that I have any intention of relying on them heavily), but I'm totally ready to start with the politicking.

Politics sound good to me.

I'll try to get a OoB up sometime soon. I am going to start politicking too probably.

A question: Are the outermost edges of of a star system considered the territory of any one nation? Because if so, I'll need permission to transit through nodes on the way to Unity Station.

I believe that diplomatic vessels should be able to move with little impediment through peaceful systems. To a lesser extent the same should be applied to merchant vessels.

Is there a call kicking off for a Space UN meeting, or is that sort of thing going to evolve later? Just mulling over courses of action. It was easier in earlier STGODs, but 'first contact' with direct neighbors in a node-jump setting isn't an option for most navies, so a bunch of 'HI THERE HOW ARE YOU' communiques would seem out of place.

Yup, apparently there IS a call kicking off the Space UN meeting :)

I think it's safe to assume most of the nations in the game have been members of the UN for some time; this is an opportunity to skip all the obnoxious getting to know you affairs and commence useful discussion. Anything which anyone wants to make official we can post about when the UN reconvenes the next morning- and the reception will provide a fine place for any outsider powers to get involved- if they so desire.

So the precedent has been set that this United Nations is following closely on the footsteps of the one on poor departed earth. A continuation as opposed to replacement? That works.
And yes i'm assuming the Chamarans know about pretty much everyone else in the game to some extent and have for a while though less so the Ousters due to their asteroid settling habits and recent arrival. And most likely the same holds true for the rest of the players.

It should be noted that the Ousters have been purposefully aloof and have no official contacts with any of the powers in game; though their existence is certainly known.

I will post in the UN thread, since increased extroversion is a "recent" move by the Network. You'll be dealing mostly with a Yuli (which I should soon have a description up for, think something like a crab with a mantis torso), but the Network also will have sent along one of its rare diplomat drones.

Map updated with Neutral Nations. Feel free to pick a fight or call them out for something in the diplomatic thread, to get the action rolling!

Is there anything in the two systems between the two Ouster expansion wings and me? Not just governments, but are there habitable planets? Stuff like that?

There's still Beowulf's map which he is working on.

The map I'm working on is essentially just a cleaned up version of the existing map. Amongst other things, it will make more consistent use of fonts, not suffer from repeated JPEG compression, and have a better color scheme (neighbors won't have close colors).

I'll put that in the OOB thread when you're done. Make everything more convenient, and stuff.

For NPC factions, will their be established backstories, or does whoever makes contact with a given NPC civ first get to make up whatever they want?

Info on the neutral factions can be found in the OOB thread.

Tisk tisk, Alyrium, making such unwarranted assumptions about an un-contacted semihuman race. Really, it's quite impolite.

I was under the impression we knew of them, and that at the least their expansion is driven largely by population demands. If that is unwarranted I can edit the post easily enough.
