I cheated this week. I went out and treated myself to a Double-Double burger at In-N-Out, Animal style, after not having eaten out at a fast food place for over 6 months. Ah well. The only thing that I can do is pick myself back up an get started again on the right direction.

Mlenk, it's OK to indulge every once in a while. Nobody's ever eating healthy 100% of the time. Making it a habit is the problem.

Hell, today I cheated and had myself some fries and a coke with my chicken sandwich. But on the flipside I've been making healthier choices overall.

I gained 15 pounds and back up to 195. Turkey sandwiches will be the only thing I'll eat this semester...

37.6 lbs down. Went up over the weekend as it was our anniversary and we went out to dinner but quickly lost that when I weighed in today :),

Back down to 234. That's half the weight lost that I put on after moving home gone inside of about 2.5 months after moving into my own place again.

I have a recipe to share! And it's very good for you, too.

Chicken Penne Alfredo with Broccoli

Ingredients:
1 box whole wheat penne (1 pound)
1 package Bird's Eye frozen chopped broccoli
1 package Perdue Short Cuts carved chicken breast, carved
1 packet McCormick Four Cheese Sauce instant mix
1/4 cup skim milk
1 1/2 tbsp. butter
Salt

Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil; add salt (a few dashes will do). Add pasta and let cook, stirring occasionally until desired firmness. While the pasta is cooking, microwave the broccoli until almost fully cooked, then separate and set aside. Drain pasta. Combine all ingredients and stir thoroughly. The heat from the pasta will warm up the chicken and finish cooking the broccoli.

Enjoy!

Down 39.5 lbs, 10 lbs shy of my original goal of 160 but I've opted to go down to 140 to try and get to the weight I was at when I graduated basic training.

140 pounds? That´s only around 63 Kilos. How tall are you?

That´s 1.76 Meters. Wouldn´t 63 Kilos / 140 pounds be pretty underweight?

I don't know. The Army seemed to be ok with it. If it is I'd certainly like to know.

I just sent this through one of these BMI calculators and it gives a value of 20. This is the lowest value for normal weight if you´re between 25 and 34.
But since you lack one arm the value would be higher if you didn´t since you´d have more weight then. So i´m completely wrong and 140 seems to be pretty much ideal.

I have both arms, ones just buggered up and mssing a bunch of flesh off the forearm. So maybe I need to have a goal wieght that's a little higher then.

YES! Weighed myself this morning: 230. Definitely back on track and I had a good workout this morning so I'm still feeling the high from that.

I did 24 pushups with a 20 kilo plate on my back, 20 dumbell rows per arm with a 30 pounder, 10 military presses with 100 lbs, 20 upright rows with a 45 pound bar, 30 crunches, 20 leg levers, 40 flutter kicks and then did interval runs for two miles (half walk, half jog).

Also, I've updated the ticker in my sig to reflect my advancement.

Shit... I can feel complacency creeping in. I'm getting near my goal and I've made a quality effort to get myself back on track but now I've got that little voice in the back of my head telling me it's okay to slack off a little and that, hey, maybe I can get a tub of ice cream to celebrate. Maybe relax for a week.

I must not fall into that trap! That's how I fall of the wagon and lose all my gains. FOCUS!

5'8 and 140 is borderline unhealthy and it means you'll have little muscle mass, since by then you'll be starving your body. A range of 150-160 while doing some exercise is what you should be aiming for.

I suggest a compromise. Eat the ice cream because you deserve it, but do not stop exercising that week. Ice creams are a tasty source of proteins

That's not bad advice for most people, but doing so opens up a slippery slope for me. Something along the lines of, "Well it's just one more scoop." Or one more piece of chocolate. Or whatever, and it just spirals down from there. A few years ago I tried keeping a bag of mini chocolates in the pantry with the idea that I'd eat one if I got a craving. It worked at first, but eventually the bag would disappear within a couple of days or so.

I'd really rather not ween myself off of ice cream again. :(

Besides, my friends' daughter is having a birthday this weekend so I'll probably be able to have a small piece of cake, and since I can't greedily wolf down the entire thing I'll be able to control myself better.

I've decided on 160 while doing Tai Chi every day and swimming every second day.

Oh my god I had so much fast food this week. So I'm now on the worser half of 175.
