Force Commander was utter crap.
Yes, play online, but go to the Zone and find rookie games. There are some people I swear can have you licked in ten minutes flat and finish you off by 15 mins. If you play certain people, then it's really fun. If you play teams it's great. Me and my cousin square off all the time. Both Empire, and we like to build up and get everything set when we play. (obviously i have to shift to overdrive online) and duke it out with walkers out the fucking wazoo.
This is the benefit to CC. First off, you can have up to 250 total pop instead of 200. ATATs can be anti air, so you don't have to screw with planes. We had maybe 80 workers max at one battle time and the rest were military unites. There were so many walkers on the screen the mini map was just a big blur of color.

God, I love it sometimes when the other team is Gungan and yours the Imperials....
Good times.

The Gungans are the one thing about the game I don't like. That might seem like it would be obvious, but I'm not actually one of those guys who's mindlessly anti-Gungan. I kind of like 'em, and I definitely liked the idea of putting them in this game.
But the units they gave them were largely retarded. Everything's organic, and all the buildings have stupid yellow balls and dumb colors all over them, rather unlike what was seen of Gungan architecture in the movie. But the portable theater shield they have kicks ass; all the civs should have that.
Anyways, I like playing with a friend on the same team. I focus on economics, and my friend focuses on military, and betwixt the two of us, we lick the platter clean. By kicking ass.

Hmm...
Perhaps a new Galactic Battleground story thread?
I got alot of them to tell, for sure.
I'm sure others do here to...

Galactic Battlegrounds isn't really all that good. It's just a modded aoe2. Heck, I think they didn't even change some of the terrain.
If you're looking for something new/different then don't get it.
If you don't mind playing a star wars aoe2 then go for it.

That was fine with me as I never played AoE anyway.
GB is still better in my opinion than AoE.
And wtf?
Some of the terrain wasn't changed?
It it slighty reminiscent, but that same?
No.
They both run on the same engine, so you can expect that.
And as a side note, I rented AoE today....ughh.
CRAP tacular.
It was a suckfest.
Sounds and music were just 'blah'.
The game favored defensive players too damn heavily..
Campaigns were inane and boring.
Voice acting equals horrid.
Bleh, I can't see why anyone would LIKE this game.
Age of Myth is an entirely another matter.

If you think the game favors defence, you don't know how to play AOK.

I play AoC and I say it's pure crap this game is.
AA units are a bitch.
Air Units are easily shot down.
Air Units are also weak sons of bitches
Best unit is probably the destroyer droid en massed.
You can't kill animals inside the command center like you can in the town center.
IIRC.........there are no fast moving units except Air units which suck.
Plus, instead of the kickass trebuchet you have a huge sphere shooting fireballs..........
And oh...AoC IS NOT A DEFENSIVE GAME!!!
But GB seems to be with those bitchy anit units.....they are always made lol...
Cyaround,
Jason

The Tie fighters (all of them, from standard to Interceptor) look somewhat bad.

Hey, when Age of Empires and Age of Empires 2 were released they were great games. But AOE2 was released over 3 years ago, of course it's crappy now.
The original Age of Empires was used by me to make my dad a computer gamer. It worked, but now he's a RTCW addict! D'OH!
And Galactic BattleGrounds is worth it. I mostly play rts games so I consider myself to be a good judge of a good rts game vs a bad rts game. If you want one of the better Star Wars RTS games out there you're not gonna find much better.

Eh, either Medieval Total War, Sims Deluxe or maybe SWGB. (if I can find it)

SW Galactic Battleground is too linear.
After playing with several missions it becomes quite boring.
I don't recommend it.

What the fuck are you smoking? You've never played AoE but you still say that GB is better? Sounds kinda stupid that you can compare a game you never played.

I loved it and the expansion pack, Clone Campaigns.

I think what Captain tycho meant was that he had never played AOE prior to playing GB, and when he did play AOE he found GB to be better... At least, that's what it looks like after reading his entire post.

Buy Medieval: Total War instead. One of the best damn game, ever.

Hmmm....Force Commander. I'm playing it now, and other than occasional wonky camera controls, I don't think the game is too bad...it's actually rather fun.
What do you guys hate about Force Commander, out of curiousity?

I like the custom scenarios in SWGB, where you can build massive cities and watch them pummel each other. I once covered an entire map in city.

what wasn't wrong with Force Commander. It was soooo shitty. Long, boring and that was just single player. If you try practicing against the computer it magically either throws AA forces at you if you build up air units, or throws air units at you if you don't have a good anti air built up. Multiplayer against people sucked too, for the slow reason.
Battlegrounds was great. I found it's singleplayer well beyond AoE's. That's were it puts the hurt on FC right there. Not only do you have the Empire's campaign, but six other campaigns, then two more if you get CC. As I said before the multiplayer rocks. As long as you don't go against those crazy experts. That can take you down in 10 mins or less. But that's what it's like in any other online game. Nothing beats watching hordes of YOUR AT-ATs and AT-STs marching on your enemy while the Imperial March strums up.

Hmmm....sounds pretty cool. I'm gonna have to check out Battlegrounds now.....
Quick question: Does the game use 2D sprites or 3D models?

Can you say Coruscant? (sp?)
The game is in 2D.

You can have a lot of fun by customizing your own battles and scenarios with GB and CC. I tend to enjoy those, The Separatsits vs. Republic is a pretty evenly matched conflict as well. The Empire is way underpowered though except for Vader and his TIE.
Fun things to do with that game
Imperial Entanglements - Imperial Star Destroyer appears, uses several for a highly effectiv e"Base Delta Zero"
Thats no moon - Death Star, big splash damage and very ntertaining for use against gungans and ewoks.

No kidding. I thought their mecha should've done at least a little more damage than the other civs, although I understand they get AA abilities in CC, that harldy makes up for Imperial weakness.
Instead they try to balance the game only by omitting certain upgrades in a section to certain civs, but thats really awful. Give me unit diversity any day.
