Ah, OK, thanks for correcting me. Even so, I think it's pretty obvious that the troops we saw on Kamino are still just the beginning of the Republic's army.

Actually, according to Palpatine's speech, they're a new branch of the military like the Marine Corps if you will.

The Jango clones form the Republican Grand Army.

The conscripts, recruits, and merged ground security forces of the Republic's sectors form the Republican Army.

The Grand Army is equivalent to rapid strike/assault force kind of like paratroopers or Army Rangers. Also they help secure and defend extremely sensitive and vital targets from the Seperatists.

The low-level police and occupation and garrison and standard invasion grunt work is handled by the Army.

1.2 million individuals is lower than stupid for a Galactic force of any scale. 1.2 million individuals is small for an army to just take Geonosis. We're talking galactic scale here.
