These two are my babies. That M1 Garand wasn't too hard to come by, but I learned that it doesn't like certain modern 30.06 ammo. It seems that Federal brass is weak as F*ck and the rim of the case breaks making it impossible to use in a semi automatic like the M1 Garand. *sigh* Took me a year to figure it was the Federal ammo and not the gun. I switched to Remington and haven't had a problem since. The Springfield Armory M1A was pricey. Woa, it cost me a pretty penny. But she is fun as hell to shoot. Where the M1 Garand can actually push you backwards when rapid firing, the M1A is sweet as can be. Nearly the same firepower, but just well designed.


The Tacticool Collection. The M4 is a fun rifle, so naturally I wanted to buy one. Aimpoint CompM2 4MOA red dot scope. That thing is fun as hell. Forward vertical grip makes it very nice to shoot. Had some teething problems, but she fires wonderfully now. The Beretta Cx4 is a work in progress. No fun addons yet, but I intend on getting some. Sadly, medical bills put a big dent in my savings and I am in the process of selling the AR15 M4 look alike. The AR15 is a DPMS Panther and is a nice rifle.


And what collection isn't complete without a few AKs? Thats a Romanian AK47 and a Bulgarian AK103 or Saiga (not sure which really) that is heavily modded inside the US by Arsenal. So its more or less an AK103 analog. Side folding stock. Both are 7.62x39 rifles. I am going to eventually turn the AK103 into a Tacticool with some rails and swap over the scope and vertical grip from my AR15 (The AR15 is for sale, not the scope!).

Actually it probably is the gun. It's not made for modern .30-06 and it's only safe to fire ammo that conforms to the WW2 specs through Garands. This problem is endemic to all WW2 M1s but is easily fixed by buying a modern adjustable gas block.

That doesn't surprise me. The M1 Garand takes 150 grain loads, but even then a lot of the manufacturers either cheap out (come on, how many semi-auto 30.06 rifles are out there?) or the cartridge is just too powerful. Anyway, I learned to be careful about the ammunition.
