Yeah, this is insane. Chalk me up as yet another slightly overweight man at half her weight, but with almost 2m height. And the last time my doc saw my lab results she just handed me the standard medical weight loss plan as something that I need to do. I can't even imagine how horrific her lab results would look.

Even if the girl has some disorder that makes her constantly hungry (i know what you mean, but i cant recall the name) then the mother is still rediculously incompetent and reprehensible.

This girl if she doesn't have PWS, probably has a leptin related disorder. I can't fathom this being anything but some kind of genetic disease leading to hormonal imbalances or metabolic problems. I'm 65 kilos and around 183. Tall and skinny, yet I'm struggling to comprehend a 7-year-old girl being near four times my mass and not even half my age or height. It's just beyond belief that anyone can see that and NOT automatically deduce something is way the fuck wrong.

That happening here would constitute child abuse. If the American courts will convict a couple of manslaughter when their baby dies from a vegan diet, why in the name of Zeus is this not attracting the state authorities en masse? Is it wrong to tell a mother she's too fucking fat and is essentially killing her child with 10,000 Calories of junk daily? I don't see a distinction between malnourishment from lack of food and the same from too much food, especially of the wrong kind. Pizza for breakfast and two litres of cola? Jesus... It takes me a week to drink two litres of any soda and a pizza that size would do me for the day!

One part of it, i would imagine, is that yes it's "wrong" here to tell someone they're too fat. There are groups, i mean literally "Fat Liberation Army" type factions, who believe that we are healthy at any size we're happy at. So as long as the kid is happy she's fine. The Catch 22 is that they also believe anyone unhappy with their weight is being "influenced" by the "body image conscious" culture of the US and thus we should make them fat anyway to help them get through it. This was actually adressed on an episode of House, but not so much the actual news media, ironically enough.

But i suspect that's only part of the problem. The other part is that people see being fat as a "meh" issue most of the time; conversely they see, for example, vegans as literally insane. I mean that, some people honestly think anyone who is a vegitarian or vegan is crazy, like certifiable. So when someone dies because of veganism it's seen as a horrible tragedy akin to a cult suicide or something, someone got them into that "crazy lifestyle". But if someone dies because they're fat...well that's perfectly normal.

And then of course simple apathy on the part of authorities forms the major, major issue here. So people failed this kid all around.

Christ on a crutch. That kid's still alive?! She weighs almost three times as much as I do and she's 11 years younger. I'm beginning to think the kindest thing that could be done is the Emperor's Peace; she will never be "normal", never be the same as everybody else, etc.

Second kindest, of course, would be a helluva lot of medical attention to get her down to a more acceptable body weight and shape, and I sincerely hope she gets it.

Did you guys see that fucking huge monster of a man in that Adam Sandler movie, The Longest Yard? He wrestles for the WWE now as The Great Khali. This mountain of muscle is billed as 7'3, 420 lbs...which makes him quite a bit lighter than this 7 year old girl.

A lot of people struggle with their weight and eat unhealthily. But this just takes it to another level. The mother isn't just ignorant of medicine, she's fucking retarded. If the kid weighs more than several adults and literally spends the entire fucking day stuffing herself, then the mom should have caught on that maybe, just MAYBE she's feeding her too much.

The really crazy thing is, the WWF tends to over-estimate the weight/size of their people for dramatic effect. He's probably more like Shaq, who is around the same height and weighs upwards of 300 lbs. And both are smaller than this girl.

Prader-Willi, thats the name of the disease. I heard about that i saw a doc about it, the people have insatiable, gut wrenching hunger at all times even when full. There is another similar disease where the people drink anything, and constantly. Like they'd drink Liquid Plumber or something. They have to (both kinds) basically be strapped down at all times so they dont eat shit or paper or drink paint anything else they can grasp.

You can do it on an adolescent, but not a seven year old.

However since she’s seven anyway it would be far easier to strictly control what she eats without that kind of assistance, then it would be for someone older. It’s not like she’s going to go down the street and buy a case of tastycakes. This of course would require a change of parent’s it blatant that whatever excuse for a mother she has couldn’t even try to do it.

At least she can still move, so if she did get on some kind of weight control program she could engage in a useful level of exercise from the start. Once she reaches the beached whale in bed phase it will be a whole world worse.
