Actually, I don't remember ever seeing bunks in TOS, only in Star Trek 6.

(Probably because Gene Roddenberry had this bizarre belief that enlisted men sleeping in bunks somehow removed them of their dignity, and that he felt by the 23rd century we'd all come to realize this and put everyone in their own stateroom.)

Seeing as I paid ~$65 for a 36cm model of it, I'd have to vote for the Ent-A in this survey. (Although I vastly prefer the paint job of the Ent-nil refit - which is, by the way, different... the paint job got ruined sometime after 4 and had to be redone.)

I think you may be right about the bunks. Though the bunks in Star Trek 6 suggest that the earlier models had them also.

That said, I stand by the rest of my post. The one and only NCC-1701 all the way for me!

I'll freely admit I voted for the NX-01, I like the way it looks and feels...has a TOS look and feel to it and moderness. (The show isn't the greatest...but I like the ship.)

The Nemesis E-E is better looking than the First Contact E-E, despite how horribly bad the movie was.
The E-E refit is identical to the First Contact E-E for all intents and purposes.
extra phaser strips & holdout torpedo launchers plus a more metallic finish that just looks nice. Although your right, it's not really that important.

I see the E-J, and all I can think of is Is it just me, or is Foundation Imaging getting lazier and lazier?

Who are they?

It's a choice between Ent-A and Ent-B. I don't know what to vote for. On the one hand, the Ent-A has been around for 6 movies. On the other hand, the Ent-B was in one movie, briefly... and it sucked. It may have looked cool, but it sucked. Harriman was a n00b who just HAD to be upstaged by Kirk the GodCaptain (who of course, dies in the shittest possible way, but that's another rant...), leading one to wonder at the calibre of Starfleet Captains who are given command over a high profile Heavy Cruiser. Which isn't even outfitted with the essential devices until later on in the week, so of course we go out to space barely spaceworthy...

I think I'll give it to the Ent-A. Generations prejudiced me against the Ent-B.

Foundation Imaging are the people that did the CGI for DS9 and Voyager, and presumably Enterprise, too. They also did the CGI for Babylon 5.

It just seems to me that, given some of the lackluster battle scenes in DS9, they've never done a great job when it comes to Star Trek.

As an aside, the extra bits on the Ent-B were added so that when the Nexus tore a big hole in the ship, it was tearing into the tacked-on bits and not into the original Excelsior model.

I have to say the Ent-E. Close second place is Ent-A, but it just doesn't have the streamlined style of the Ent-E.

When i first saw the Ent-D i instantly hated it. This is what i see when i look at a GCS:

As much as I love the Enterprise-A I have to vote for the Enteprise-E. The thing look so beutiful and streamlined.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I voted for the E-B, I love that movie era design.

The sleek utilitarian feel. The blue, green and grey bridge. The small deflector dish. The list goes on.

I'd say the NCC-1701-E,while it doesn't beat the E-nil, E-A, E-B or the E-D the NX-01 ain't that bad (wouldn't probaly be so hated if there were no Akira) and may of its Akira like features make sence. To me the E-C look poor crossdread between the E-A and E-D (never liked it) and GCS-X and the E-J are just plain ugly.
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

I voted for the E-E because it seemed the most militaristic (and thus TOS-like) of the next gen ships, and is just sleeker than E-A.

I like the excelsior plenty, but the Generations E-B looked like a tumorous fugly hybrid to me. Too many new bumps and bulges.

The E-C looks macho tough, like what the Galaxy would look like if it were designed by republicans... in some shots. In others I can see it's vulnerable side, which really detracts from a spaceship.

The Galaxy looks a little too...Ikea... for me. Too graceful and bloated and fragile. But I grew up watching it, so I have come to love the design. (I do remember thinking it looked like a blimp the first time I saw it.)

NX-01 looks like a shoddy Korean knockoff of the impressive Japanese-manufactured Akira, a "Hyundaiprise" if you will.

Ent-J looks kind of advanced and spacey... just a bit too abstract. It's not grounded enough or tought-looking enough.

I suppose gravity might have to oriented differently for the Ent -J to make sense--the huge windows on the ceiling for example would then be on the wall--as for its size, we are not told AFAIK.

On topic, this is a hard choice between the Ent E and D; the E looks kewl, although I do not like many of its design aspects, and the Galaxy looks less kewl (or even cool) but has a solid design (well, the four foot model anyway, the 6 footer had a much too large saucer) which I have come to love.

*Flips coin*

And the Enterprise D takes it!
