I would like to get away from the goddamned 24th century and go back to the 23rd century, preferably around the time of the TOS movies. Might be interesting to see what Excelsior went on to do after TUC.
Perhaps a tussle with the Romulans, which leads to a climactic battle and defeat for said Romulans, explaining their decades-long absence as noted in TNG. Or perhaps patrols on the Klingon/Federation border, attempting to maintain the uneasy peace as the Neutral Zone is slowly demilitarized while other forces try to take advantage of the situation. (Not just Romulans... perhaps pirates... perhaps other one-episode races from TOS? The Tholians come to mind, as do the Gorn...)
And of course refit-Connies will have to be to this new show what the Excelsiors were to TNG. Because I want to see more of them, goddamnit.

As I've said before a couple of miniseries of 3-6 episodes might be a better model than the current one. Release a couple of them every year and get in decent sci-fi (and different for each miniseries) writers in for them to keep them both fresh and well written. The writers should also have not written Trek before to make sure they have a fresh outlook, a comprehensive writers bible would be needed though for consistency (maybe it could even override all of the tech stuff from before so that previous inconsistencies could be resolved).Uraniun235 wrote:Maybe the future of Trek (if there is one; maybe we should just let the goddamn franchise lay fallow for a few years?!?) isn't in weekly series, but in miniseries and movies?
It could be quite good for the studio as well because they could sell more merchandise as each mini-series would have a different cast, ships and time frame. They could also get in unknown actors which might be cheaper than retaining them for many years.
All of the story ideas in this thread could be adapted to such a model as most wouldn't really allow for any more than a full season anyway.

I got it...
A Star Trek SUPERHERO.
A Shadow/Batman/Punisher type guy operating independently of Starfleet Command and/or Federation Council.
Ex-Starfleet, Ex-Maquis, Ex-Borg...whatever.
He follows his own concience and code of honor instead of Starfleet regulations.
He has a custom made ship with a secret...transwarp drive.
He enters into battle with ARMOR.
His arch-nemeses are the members of Section 31...his "thing" is revealing the secrets of others....something they want to kill him for.

The Borg are one of the worst Sci-fi "baddies" I've ever seen, the less Borg we see the better.Robert Walper wrote:Nothing gets my vote unless I get to see some kick ass Borg action.
History? I love history! First, something happens, then, something else happens! It's so sequential!! Thank you first guy, for writing things down!

honestly voyager somewhat ruined the borg. instead of making them this all powerful, shadowing threat that loomed over everyone, it revealed the full extent of their capabilities, and showed practically every secret that's really feasible to show. Now we know exactly where they are and their limitations/capabilities. No more mystery to them.
The borg have been used way too much thanks to voyager.

Before Voyger in TNG the Borg were a great villain.Super-Gagme wrote:The Borg are one of the worst Sci-fi "baddies" I've ever seen, the less Borg we see the better.Robert Walper wrote:Nothing gets my vote unless I get to see some kick ass Borg action.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Blah! Voyager portrayed the Borg pretty decently IMO.evilcat4000 wrote:Before Voyger in TNG the Borg were a great villain.Super-Gagme wrote:The Borg are one of the worst Sci-fi "baddies" I've ever seen, the less Borg we see the better.Robert Walper wrote:Nothing gets my vote unless I get to see some kick ass Borg action.

The tholians were also a well done race. It would be interesting to see them in future trek episodes.Robert Walper wrote:Further episodes bringing up the Gorn could be interesting. Yeah, but it would be hard to tell. All Borg look too similar to notice if they are Gorn or Tholians.evilcat4000 wrote:The tholians were also a well done race. Well, abused isn't the word. I'd have said neglected. Would've been nice to see some Gorns physically tearing apart some Jemadar soldiers at least or something. A Tholian web around the wormhole at DS9 could've been interesting, etc, etc.Kuja wrote:The Gorn and Tholians have both been sadly abused by Trek. They deserve some goddamn screen time, damn it.
