I think I have a little die-cast version of Mazinger stored somewhere. I'm not sure if it's the exact same character since the one I have is part of the Shogun Warriors line. It looks an awful lot like the one in the sig and I'm pretty sure his name was Mazinger.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:The robot is Mazinger Z, a 70s super robot by Go Nagai.Rogue 9 wrote:There I cannot help you.Dennis Toy wrote:ok, who are the others in the pics

But ... but ... where would we get our fix of Starcrossed from? What about the Twilight War, Cain and Abel, Split Infinities and Judgement of Steel? Who will be able to stop Chuck Sonnenburg from dominating the GSDA's (Have we had the 2003 ones yet?JME2 wrote:The Former: Yes. Of course the problem is that Trek: The Franchise needs a TV show on constantly in order to hawk cheesy shit to dementented fanboys. Trek never had the selling power of a Star Wars so it's rather essential to keep it in the public eye. Now more than every with the alienation of the old shows loyal fanbase.Stravo wrote:Master of Ossus wrote:They're FINALLY seeing that something's wrong with the show, now? I guess that's good, in a way, but I also think that the damage may have already been done.
I think the last poll we ran here indicated that the show we really needs to tale a 5-10 year break in order to shed all the craptastic baggage it has accumulated. The franchise has been horribly mangled and really needs time to lie fallow and start fresh sometime in the future. I don't think the answer is a new show.
Trek does desperately need at least something of a break, maybe not one of a decade, but at least a few years. But more than anything it needs to have people that'll treat it with a little respect.

Surely that could be remedied by adding a few teddy bear races, or a wacky CGI character that the kiddies would just love to buy action figures of.Shaidar Haran wrote:

Or if they move from the seven season model to one where they make 3-4 episode mini-series each with a different focus and cast they can make new mechandising line for each mini-series. So Trek would end up like Dr Who but without a central character.TheDarkling wrote:Surely that could be remedied by adding a few teddy bear races, or a wacky CGI character that the kiddies would just love to buy action figures of.Shaidar Haran wrote:

That would work, in my humble opinion. Instead of getting 26 episodes of largely mediocre content, you put all your energies into a short arc, with one of the goals being to observe consistency. There won't be a need for the dreaded reset button, so everything that occurs in the mini-series will have a beginning, middle and end - and preferably, the end could be loose enough to tie in a sequel mini-series.Soulman wrote:Or if they move from the seven season model to one where they make 3-4 episode mini-series each with a different focus and cast they can make new mechandising line for each mini-series. Because you're not wasting money on a lot of episodes the miniseries get the very best resources. The scope and scale of the story could only improve as a result. Think how well the Dominion War arc could've gone if you could cut the fat off from the show? There wouldn't be a need for the reset button, so SoA's deus ex machina ending would be avoided. There wouldn't be a need to tell stupid stories, so the Dax/Worf marriage wouldn't take place in the middle of a warzone, nor would we have diversions to the holosuite with Sinatra-clone/wannabe etc. The style for a mini-series would necessitate tight, consistent storytelling.
And there's the problem: it's a blatant move away from 'traditional' trek storytelling, namely the one-episode wonders with the reset button pushed at the end. Not that I want that 'tradition' to continue, but maybe some people are so indoctrinated that they won't recognise a possible mini-series as Star Trek? That could be a possible detriment. Of course, since most fans (at least, to my knowledge) hate this kind of storytelling, it might be a gust of fresh air into a stale room.

but they are gonna be walking into a pummeling from the other WB show ANGEL. To let it do well they would have to put it on Monday or something (and by 'something' I mean get better scripts).Lord Poe wrote:Interesting that they're moving Enterprise to 9pm. Angel is certainly more interesting than Enterprise. No way Enterprise is pulling me away from it.Death from the Sea wrote:but they are gonna be walking into a pummeling from the other WB show ANGEL. Ah, I always have a hard time remember the exact wording of phrases. I was also attempting to be gender friendly.Durandal wrote:The proper saying is "To each his own." And it's an excellent show.
I'm just kidding about Angel though, nothing wrong with enjoying it. I don't personally like the show but we all have our own tastes.

Smallville does considerably better than Angel, nor are Enterprises ratings that much different from Angels (Angel usually performs better but on the odd week Enterprise skips ahead).Death from the Sea wrote: but they are gonna be walking into a pummeling from the other WB show ANGEL.
