the only one we see. this could be partly due to her roll as counsellor or the fact that she's got special permission from picard. but either way it's not like i'm complaining, the more cleavage shown the better. >:)Comosicus wrote:Is Deanna Troi the only woman whose uniform has that cutout? all the other women's uniforms I've seen were around the neck.

I'm not complaining about that. But after all, it's an uniform. One can not modify it so easy. And she wears it even in front of higher rank officers who are not from Enterprise. Could it have a connection to the fact that she is a betazoid? Are there any other Betazoid counsellors seen?Darth_Zod wrote:the only one we see. this could be partly due to her roll as counsellor or the fact that she's got special permission from picard. but either way it's not like i'm complaining, the more cleavage shown the better. >:)Comosicus wrote:Is Deanna Troi the only woman whose uniform has that cutout? all the other women's uniforms I've seen were around the neck.

i recall at least one case of a betazoid crewman, in the opening pilot of Voyager. although she was just a shuttle pilot and wore a regular uniform sadly. no cleavage enhancement alterations involved.

It's because she was the TnA for TNG, like Rand and Uhura in TOS. But they decided to make her special and gave her the fucking catsuit.
Personally, I was glad when they FINALLY switched her to a proper and decent uniform and got rid of that fucking catsuit. I hated that fucking catsuit, because you couldn't take her seriously.
For Voyager, they should have ditched Seven's catsuit after her first season and put her in a uniform, too.

I believe in a sign of Zeta.

The Maquis crewmembers weren't Starfleet either, that didn't stop them. Janeway could just do a field commission for 7 like she did with everyone else. The Aliens wrote:They couldn't put Seven in a uniform because she wasn't Starfleet, but Troi should have been wairing a proper uniform (and proper hair) since day one.

Considering she only lasted about 20 minutes, I think that giving her a cleavage-enhancing outfit would have made us hate the series even more!Darth_Zod wrote:i recall at least one case of a betazoid crewman, in the opening pilot of Voyager. although she was just a shuttle pilot and wore a regular uniform sadly. no cleavage enhancement alterations involved.

The Ent uniforms should be on the poll. IMHO they could put up a fight against ST2-6 uniforms. They're not appropriate as dress uniforms, but they're probably better everyday uniforms than the movie ones.

Well, Troi was....special IIRC like...in the Army, CID guys/gals all wear Civvies and can grow facial hair. There likely is a special provision which allows Troi to wear the special uniform and hair like that. The Aliens wrote:They couldn't put Seven in a uniform because she wasn't Starfleet, but Troi should have been wairing a proper uniform (and proper hair) since day one.

The fancy dress uniforms they wore in Nemesis when at the wedding?Peregrin Toker wrote:The only ones who actually look vaguely like naval uniforms.
Guess which I'm voting for?
I'm not a big fan of any of the uniforms. Some are ugly, some are impractical (all the single piece ones) and some are both (most of the ones in ST:TMP).
I didn't mind some of the two piece uniforms in ST:TMP. The couple Kirk had were decent but the colors for the rest were awful.
TNG wasn't bad looking but single piece uniforms without pockets is just stupid. The two piec versions were better but still without pockets.
The DS9/Voy uniforms were kind of ugly.
I liked the FC uniforms better because the grey made them seem more militarilly similar but they were also more drab and most of the crue looks bad in them. I actually think the dress whites of the TNG movies were pretty good looking and seemed similar in style to the USN's Dinner Dress Blues.
I never really liked the uniforms of STII-VI. To me they look like band uniforms. The design is fine but I just don't like the shirt. I also don't like the rank ensignia because they aren't as easy to decipher as the very simple ones used on the other uniforms.
Now I did think these uniforms looked good with just the undershirt (turtle neck) and the pants. I think there was also a variant that had just a black turtle neck shirt with shoulder patches. Also the field coat (STII) looked decent enough and believable.
