hmmn, I'd have to look into that. Of course, the possibility exists that the "window" material (transparent aluminum or something like that) is just as strong as the default hull material (this also would explain why windows on ST vessels don't seem to have any effect on hull strength)

BoBW part 1 where the Borg slicing into engineering, LaForge barely gets out as the isolation door comes down (bugger!) :P

Also seen in the Drumhead, where ENT-D suffers a failure of the dilithium chamber, explosion + contamination

Is there really someone who believe that a physical door can contain a warp core breach ? The door will just make the hole airtight, but the containment of the explosion must be done with a forcefield. So maybe it does not matter if there is a window...
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

I saw them too, presumably its so they can watch the shockwave zip towards them :D

The door's just there to keep coolant in if there's a leak, and stuff like that, if the core's actually going to blow, the door's useless

actually, the door would be pretty useful in keeping the entire area from becomming hard vacume when the core is jettisoned.
