The Minstrel Boy is my favorite ghost song. It was written by Thomas Moore. It is about a young musician that goes to war and dies before his time.

Uhm.. La Llorona is a native US Southwest story...

I also dig the Aztec "Night Axe", where a person wandering around at night hears the sound of wood being chopped, and upon investigating, the person finds a decapitated corpse with a chest wound opening and closing fast enough to make the woodchopping sound. The victim must reach in and grab the apparition's heart and yank it out, or be driven hopelessly insane.
