They went lower. The Infinite Improbability Drive was ripped off for VOY: Threshold.(Yes, that is a sore spot for me)
VGR also had a flux capacitate or something like that in one of the early episodes....

I absolutly hate the word "Photonic." What is it with Voyager and Photons? Photonic, Photonic Life Form, Photonic Cannon, Portable Photon Generator, etc.

Macross, AMEN BROTHER. We see a fucking photonic doctor on Voyager and suddenly 'photonic life forms' are popping up all over the fucking place. 90% of the pathetic species in the Delta quandrant can't replicate, transport, or even develop weaponry even close to Voyager, but they can sure make 'photonic' shit.

Not only that, but we even saw 'photonic' people on Enterprise! Good fucking lord, holograms before Kirk and Spock's time? I'm really thinking that B & B have some major boners for 'photonic life forms.'

They Should Call it a Quantulift, because Quantum sounds way cooler than Turbo. (e.g. Turbolaser)

Photon torpedoes of course. Why not call them anti-matter torpedoes since that's what they realy are ?
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Jesus Cthulhu but that sounds just like actual dialogue from an episode of V'ger.

My own nominations: a "quantum fissure" in an event horizon, and "deuterium ore". Takes the cake for stupid.

Actually, I think that "Anti-Matter Torpedo" sounds much more bad-ass than "Photon Torpedo".

Ah yes, "Deuterium Ore," which can only be mined on those inhospitable and rare Class Y planets.

The worst part about a "quantum fissure in the event horizon" is that there are people that try to defend it as a meaningful concept. This is second quite possibly only to the use of the word "transport" to refer to teleportation as a barbarous assault on the English language.

I never thought about what "quantum fissure" was meant to mean in the first place - I just think it sounds silly.

"Anti-Matter Torpedo" is still only 7 syllables. It could be far worse.

Theyre not even torpedos, they're missiles. How about you call them AP missiles and be done with it. Or AP torps if you wanna keep the torpedo thing. Not like they are actual torpedos or anything.

What is the difference between a torpedo and a missile? Is it any worse then calling something a phaser canon?

A torpedo goes in the water. A missle is a better term.

Torpedos also tend to use an external working fluid as opposed to being rocket or jet based (as cruise missiles are). Torpedos are the water based equivalent of propeller missiles (none of which exist).

LOL are you sure, that's a bit much. What episode?
I think it's from "What You Leave Behind" (not sure which part), spoken by O'Brien.
