The Federation discovers technology that allows them to cross into alrternate dimensions. A special branch (section 32?) is created to explore these new dimensions, maybe trying to set things "right" in the alternate reality. (Right as in "like our universe is".)

One thing i insist on is a large cast, so i can kill off a few people.
In other words a Trek rip-off of Sliders?

I posted my idea before on where Trek should go. I.E. it should either go in the bin or they should move to the Next Next Generation if you will. I like the idea of a collapse of the Federation. In Shatners book The Return he put in that the Collapse was only 30 years away for the Feddies. When that collapse happens there's gonna be a lot of heavily armed ships and crews trying to make a living. Also there is gonna be a hella lotta alien races trying to aquire the federation tec. Fuck it i want Pirates in Space.

My Series would sumthing like Star Trek Redemption.
T'wud be a hundered or so years after nemesis and The federation though still around in name has for all intents and purposes collapsed. They are at war withc a previously un-heard of series whom it would later be revealed were one the dominated lessser species in either the klingon or Romulan Empires. As this species steam-rollered the frederation it started scarificing out-lying system such as Bajor or Bolius for their core systems.
Due to this Terrans have picked up a reputation for being traitors bastads as the pilot episode of this show starts the bad guys are about to deliver a knock-out blow and conquer terra. Starfleet thows everythink at them and in a battle lasting days fight roars throughout the solsystem and defeat is only averted when tye disparate members of ccrippled vessel luanch the proto-type USS Redemption. The rest of the series would be about their patrols mixing classic trek style encounters with actionic war themed episodes as well as them neogating for vital supplies while every thinks them the scum of the universe.
