That's one of RWE Rheinbraun's (You can just about make "RHEINBRAUN" as the white sign on the excavator) brown cole excavators they use in the Rhein/Ruhr area.
And they *are* that huge. They are about 240 meters long and 96 high and weigh about 13,000 tons and has something around 22515 PS. They can mine about 240,000 tons of cole or excavated earth a day.

Yes, it uses its caterpillars to move. At something like 10 meters per hour

Yeah, I just found that out. This picture shows them clearly. Obviously we now need to have one fight a giant walking dragline... Anyone got a half billion or so to spare?

Yes, an M1 can kill it, run around it, use armor piercing shells on vital parts, cause the structure to collapse and that shit.
But the M1 wont because its a loyal tracked comrade rather then a legged mecha.
But just imagine that thing smash your school! FUCKING AMAZING!!!!! Imagine it move its crane thing and DESTROY a building!!!!
Its generally called a boom, and cool as that would be I'd be afraid of damaging my new toy, the buckets bits probably wouldn't like the steel and reinforced concrete many schools are built from. But then you can always get replacements, so smashey smashey.

My money's on the rotary excavator. Those big spinners can do a lot of damage.
But a really big dragline would likely have a greater reach and faster traverse, its bucket could make a very nasty wrecking ball. Though I also favor the rotary excavator, if it makes contact with the draglines boom the boom may be snapped. Though that depends on just how strong those cutting heads are.
