One word, Shielded Tanks. Different armor and shielding combination need to be defeated by different methods

Energy Weapons are only line of site and Lasers and Particle weapons interact differently. The Rocket Rifle using a sensor ball can even fire around corners! Also what defeats a Laser weapon will not stop a particle rifle and vise versa!

A super Tank is a very large heavy attack tank. I didn't have space here to put the weapons load out of each vehicle but if you want I could try to add it to the original post.

'Shielded Tanks' is actually two word, FYI.

'Military Assault Command Operations' doesn't even make sense. 'Assault' implies they will be taking part in the attack- which of course, they will. But they can't be used for defensive purposes? And if they're taking part in the assault, how can they be Command?

I owe you a debt for your clarification

Of course if there is ever a fight they are in command, of course. The Name is obviously a contrived from their intended Anacronism. That something sounds cool is more importaint than the practicality! Of coure I Use Anacronisms in my story for example Multi-Ordinance Weapons Launcher(MOWL) or Heavy Amplified Laser Cannon(HALC) but they really came from I had invented these weapons and then got tired of writing the whole thing out over and over again so I truncated them.

Actually I figure they will use them to show how superior Starfleet is. The Commandos will be gung-ho violence junky bastards willing to kill anyone to get the job done. Of course this will be shown to be vastly inferior to the hippy tree hugging bullshit that passes for a sophisticated society like Star Trek.

Federation Soldiers fight like... hmm... They basically crouch behind cover and squeeze off poorly aimed shots. So I'd say if you took Viet Cong, equipped them only with bolt action rifles, removed all concept of camoflauge and traps and allowed only the most basic tactics, you'd get a good approximation of feddies.

You're forgetting Nemesis. Stand in the middle of a corribor, fire shots at somebody 10 feet away, and miss, repeatedly. Then stand back to admire the pretty sparks phasers make.

Or diving to the ground for no apparent reason because it's so much easier to fight when you can't move and your entire back is exposed.

MACO, Military Assault Command Operations

Oh, I get it. Like the shark, right? (Yes, I know it's m-a-k-o.)

My first thought was, why not Tactical Assault Command Ops? Then, everytime Captain Archer asks for the Tac unit, Porthos barks - which is then followed by a 1950's style collective grin and shaking of heads from the bridge crew.

Then they'd be called the TACOs.
