Fair enough. Though I'm not sure how we're better off with them gone; it's not like we have new potential players banging on our doors looking to be put into the game on that side.

I sympathize with you, Steve.

I already want to use the ADHD Lemming real estate as grounds for my madness. :D

While I would normally oppose the arrival of even more lunatics on or near my borders, seeing as how I already have a truly unreasonable number of them...

Sure, why not?

As the resident Roman Empire in Space, I find this rather disturbing.

Don't worry, the Western Coreward Roman Empire can't be all that impressive next to the glories of the Rimward Roman Empire!

Well, if your planet happens to be pointed in the right direction, yes. East will point towards the galactic rim. Unfortunately, it won't do so at all consistently...

It's Eastwards because one of the many official names of the Imperium is "Eastern Roman Star Empire". :P

Indeed -- removing them would only leave official holes in space, rather than unofficial holes in space.

So... you just pick points on assorted random planetary surfaces at random and say "eh, east points to our region of space somewhere?" OK by me.

To us, you are the Rimward Roman Empire, though; you used to be Eastern but eventually transcended such puny monoplanetary concerns as "East" and "West." We respect that. Meanwhile, the Coreward Roman Empire is in much worse shape, beset by barbarians and too busy oiling each other's muscles and suchlike to be worth talking to very often.

That might be just as well, though: it lets us do things sort of like what Shroom's done and create NPCs that could be interesting in the holes. Or, hell, we might get some new players who are actually interested some day.
