Star Trek doesn't feel like cutting off the creative hands of it's fans. I may prefer canon information, but I can respect their decision to keep it open to all. Besides, Star Trek has an overwhelming amount of exposure compared to Star Wars. I think it's more likely that Star Wars fans are threatened by the fact that Star Wars probably couldn't survive head to head with Star Trek on television. If you look at the number of movies made, Wars can't compete with Trek there either.

Did he say ST is more popular that SW?

ANH probably made more than every trek film combined and if they made a TV series it would break all records for TV ratings.

Here is what I found out so far. Most of the people on their have decided to just ignore the EU and everything but the movies and novelization as cannon. So we'll either have to start out with that or state the cannon facts at the begining of the thread. Seeing how they don't have many STvsSW threads there we are going to be facing some of the worst debating tactics ever. They won't have figures, but they will probly assume that ST weapons are more powerful==to SW weapons and unless we can get them to accept the EU and resource books as cannon, it won't be smooth sailing. We probly will have to start our own thread, seeing how this kind of debate doesn't happen often there. So this most likely will not be a lure attack, but an invasion. Also, flaming is not accepted and will get you deleted/banned, so we have to watch our language and not insult others.

I just checked out the thread above and it is LAUGHABLE. These guys are talking about "crack" Federation ground troops. Then another guy mentions "Thousands" of Federation "combat hardened" marines....WHERE were these guys during the Dominion war? Then as further proof of the extreme bias on this thread one guy points out that there is very little evidence that the Feds have marines so the guy says, "C'mon just give it to me." So the guy says..."Uhh, OK, say a few thousand marines."

WTF????!!!

After having spent time on this board and seeing true debate this made me want to vomit. What the hell??? They can't be more than 14, I PRAY. Because adults with this kind of skill is most disturbing.

From the Dominion War, their "crack Federation marines" appeared to be made up of basic Klingon warriors and dregs left over when all the good officers were picked!

Also, on the S31.com thread, something that really amused me was how the trekkies said that Q and the wormhole aliens would destroy the fleet as soon as they were detected. Jesus H. Christ.

Just like they did to the domnion fleet.

Without even bothering to consider the fact that the wormhole aliens can't seem to do anything outside of the Bajor system, or the fact that even then they needed the Emmisary to convince them to do something. And don't get me started on Q.

BTW, if they admit that the only way the Feds could win would be if Q or the wormhole aliens stepped in, doesn't that mean we win?

All right, so it is then the general concensus of the ISF, that the first stage of the campaign will be done in multiple threads.

Which should we do first?

The superiority of turbolasers over phasers?
The superiority of imp shields over fed shields?
The superiority of hyperspace over warp?
The superiority of Stormies over Fed "marines"?

....You know what...I just thought of something. To prevent trekkies from figuring out what we're doing, why don't we have Mike make a private Imperial Strike force Forum?

I mean considering the amount of stuff that we will probably get to doing, we'll probably warrant one..

I'm still new to all this so I'll just sit back and watch, but I think you guys should draw up a list (liek you have already done) of topics to debate. Take each one in turn and proove it beyond a shadow of adoubt before moving on to the next. Then when you have proven them all you can add up all your conclusion into one big devastating argument that covers them all and leave the poor Trekkies wondering what hit them.

Before anything we have to get them to accept whats cannon. Because if we don't and half way through the debate we reference to something in the EU or ICS they won't count it as cannon and won't accept it as cannon because thats what they've decided and we didn't set that at the beginning.

Someone should keep a list of which of their members use "official" sources and for what incidents. That way, if someone refuses to accept an official source, we should be able to prove if that person has used such a source in the past.

Except for the TOS series Star Trek is the total Bastion of PC.

So what would they do if I pointed out the total degredation of the Star Trek Universe over the last 30 years, that "Photon's Be Free" makes no sense because of "Devil in the Dark" and also "Devil in the Dark" also shows that you can't use a phasor for blasting your way through a mountin like some people have claimed. It took three phasors at maximum firing on ONE spot, to HURT a living rock....
