Where does this War-Galaxy thing come from?

From what I've seen, they're just Galaxies fighting with the rest of the other assorted ships...

Not much of an asset, all the technobabble miracles usually stem from engineering.

IIRC while the Defiant doesn't have a science lab, it does have a science station, although it is limited. I believe this was commented on by Sisko when he introduced the Defiant to his DS9 crew.

The most noticeable difference is some extra ribbing on top of the warp nacelles, which I've heard are supposed to be additional phaser arrays. The shot of the GCS at the end of "The Way of the Warrior" I think gives the clearest shot.

The strip on the aft side of the neck on the stardrive section is also supposedly a darker shade, which supposedly indicates armor plating.

Proof please.
Not sure about the Defiant but the other Fed ships like the Enterprise-D and Voyger had science labs. Please correct me if I am wrong.
We're talking about the differences between Trek warships and normal Trekships, and your support for the warship having something is "the others have it"

The Defiant is only 120 meters and 4-5 decks. There isn't enough room for science labs.

*snort* But there's enough room for a little shuttlebay.

Besides the shuttle bay located at the center of the ship there might be another shuttle at the aft end.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I think the engines might interfere with that idea.

Your point? Not all shuttlebays have to be huge. Plus, a Defiant can only carry what? One, possibly two of the small shuttles?

That's a pretty small ship to warrant a shuttlecraft. I think the space could have been better used.

It's always a good idea to have shuttlecraft onboard a starship, just in the odd event the transporters cease to function, for whatever reason - and there sure are a lot of reasons why the fail... besides, 2 shuttlepods (they looked like the real small version) is enough for a ship like the Defiant. It's not like they're going to start carrying fighters or runabouts.

Firstly the Defiant doesn't realy have a shuttlebay so much as a shuttle hanger or internal docking port. And it can't carry filled sized shuttles either, but cut down shuttles with just a pilot compartment.

On topic, to get over this crap about the Defiant carrying Science labs or not:

SISKO
Five years ago, Starfleet
began exploring the possibility of
building a new class of starship.
This ship would have no families, no
science labs, no luxuries of any
kind... it was designed for one
purpose only -- to fight and defeat
the Borg.
(beat)
The Defiant was the prototype... the
first ship in what would've been a
new Federation battle fleet.
The 'War Galaxy' is a subclass of the Galaxy that is seen in the DS9 era. There are I think a couple of varients, but the clearest differences are:

1. A 'Double Decker' main hanger bay, probably for increased fighter storage.

2. Apparently increased armour on the 'neck' section as well as a reduced neck design.

3. Extra phaser strips mounted on top of the warp nacelles.

4. Rather more impressive saftey features (A Galaxy in Tears of the Prophets took a direct three shot salvo to the hull from a Cardasian OWP in the enginering section right at the warp core, it just kept going and firing back)

Actually, the Defiant is supposed to have a drop bay for one almost full sized shuttle, in that ring part directly below the bridge, and slots for two of those mini-shuttles near the nacelles.

Here's the main bay:

I don't remember where I saw the data on the pod bays, but I know I've read it somewhere.

Edit: I didn't find pictures, but there is this which shows the defiant as carrying both a shuttle and two pods.

I knew about the main bay, I meant the shuttle pods.

Tis on the non-cannon DS9 tech manual. The fold out blue prints in the back.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Maybe that's where I saw it originally, then. However, the Defiant has been shown carrying both types of shuttles, so multiple bays are not completely out of the question.
