Voyager DVD sale figures

Post by Dark Primus »

Ok I don't know if Voyager has come out yet on DVD, but if it has it will be interesting to see how the sales goes. This was THE worst of all Trek series in my opinion so I hope the figures will be low.

A little off topic, but I saw the TNG boxsets in Suncoast today, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw they had them priced at $150! That's some serious fucking markup, given I've seen them at $99 elsewhere.

Also noticed they have an "Original Crew Movie" box set with all the special editions... shit, I almost wish I hadn't gotten the ones I already have now just so I could have it, but oh well.

Suncoast is usually overpriced compared to other places. I think it's usually because they are in popular malls and they are nailing the consumer for the higher rent and/or the convienence of the store being in the mall.

IIRC the company which owns Suncoast also owns Musicland/Sam Goody so if you buy it there it's the same deal.

A little off topic. I noticed this last time that Babylon 5 Season 4 box set was priced a bit higher than the previous ones. I guess they realized they could sell them and decided to stick it to the fans.

When did you buy? They tended to drop in price about another twenty bucks if you waited a couple months.

At the Best Buy near my house they're currently priced $79.

Right when it came out. Best Buy usually has things priced cheaper the first day/week something is released and then they bump the price up to the norm.

It was still a lot cheaper than the Trek DVD's it just wasn't as cheap as the previous B5 DVDs. With those I always thought whoever was pricing them was stupid for not charging more. I guess I shouldn't have thought that. :)

I certainly didn't feel like I was getting ripped-off.

You know. I forgot one other thing. The new releases tend to be stickered with the regular price but they register the new release "sale" price when you buy them. That price is usually posted on the shelf by the DVDs and I don't thik I bothered to look at that this time for B5 S4.

The price for the German edition was raised by about 5 Euros with every B5 season. If you bought the firts one, you'll likely buy the next one, and so forth. Why not make a bit more money of you? :D

That would probably be the answer. They've been priced pretty consistently from what I've seen. Unlike the poor Germans.

Voyger did not have a good fanbase compared to other Trek shows so its sales figure is likelly to be small.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Again with the 'Voyager bad bad, ugh ugh'

No, The later seasons were not brilliant. But I think Seasons 1 to 3 and a good part of 4 were quite acceptable.

I'm gonna buy Voyager Season 1. And I'm gonna enjoy every minute of it.
Voyager summed up in 1 quote:

Neelix: These people dont appreciate what they have! This ship is the match of anything in a hundred lightyears, yet what do they do with it?
(fake voice) Oh, well lets go find some space anomaly today that'll rip it apart!
