Federation search probes

Post by Shrykull »

on the other side Of the bajoran wormhole what's the closest star? We heard in 2 episodes that it is Edron, but we hear elsewhere it is the Karemma homeworld. And they also mentioned in emmisary that they knew it was Edron from a probe they sent to the gamma quandrant and Sisko knew the system offhand even though it's on the other side of the galaxy and thousands of light years away.

Edron is a star, the Karemma homeworld is a planet. Karemma might be the closest major system with planets and inhabitants, not the actual, physically close star. As for the probe, I seem to recall that it was launched centuries prior to DS9 - I think the computer said the 22nd century? - I haven't seen the episode for a while, though.

I remember that somewwhat :? .

This bring up a point: how does such a probe return its info?

Did a probe launched Centuries before the DS9 era circumnavigate the entire galaxy and return to Earth intact, or did the probe launch a multitude of communications relays?

I dunno. Take the wormhole back? Its not one way. (If it is, I'm going to smack myself.)

There are some one way worm holes I think, like the ones that two Ferengi used to make on one way trip to the delta quadrant.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

That wasn't one way just one end kept moving about which meant the Ferengi couldn't get to the "near" end again in order to get home.

Thanks for reminding me. I saw that episode several years ago so my memory is hazy.
