Nanites

Post by Jeremy »

So I am watching BoBW and I hear one of thier plans was to unleash nanites (tiny machines that enter and kill cells) on the Borg.

How do you think this would have reacted to the nanoprobes?

Borg nanoprobes would likely have squashed any nanities the feds tried to put into the collective.
"I want to mow down a bunch of motherfuckers with absurdly large weapons and relative impunity - preferably in and around a skyscraper. Then I want to fight a grim battle against the unlikely duo of the Terminator and Robocop. The last level should involve (but not be limited to) multiple robo-Hitlers and a gorillasaurus rex."--Uraniun235 on his ideal FPS game

"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of the Force."--Darth Vader

Maybe not. Borg nanites can be defeated by Species 8472 immune system. If the Feds figure that out they could copy the function.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

We didn't hear of the nanoprobes til first contact, maybe they didn't have them yet.

Since the Federation's nanites were described as small enough to enter living cells, and Borg nanorpobes are significantly bigger than blood cells, that statement might not be literately inaccurate.

It would be interesting to see how one would argue the Federation could realistically be expected to get Species 8472 bio material to analyse without employing plot holes or incredible luck. Particularily since one Species 8472 bioship alone can dust fifteen Borg cubes, and the entire Federation virtually loses to one...unless, again, employing plot holes or luck.

Nope, 8472 ships are unshielded, anti matter spread would make for a nice energy burst :D

You sure about that, they seemed to have hull hugging shields when the Borg fired on them.

I assumed he was joking and actually knew that.

"Significantly bigger"? I thought that in VOY: Scorpion it showed them latching onto blood cells, and they they were slightly smaller? Might be wrong though, been a while since I saw that episode.

Species 8472 ships are not shielded since Voyger was able to use nanite based weapons against them.
