Which ship would you serve on?

You are a second rate charecter on a ST ship, which one of them would you wish to serve on?

Probably Defiant, the ship's crew is small enough that even a second rate character would be harder to replace. Besides, they don't go on "Let's go investigate a planet full of aliens waiting to shoot at us by beaming down to the surface" missions as much as other vessel classes (the Defiant's a dedicated warship, as opposed to even the E-E)

I picked Voyager, simply because of it's enormous character shields. I mean come on, even the DS would have been destroyed by Voyager in a heartbeat.

Seven of Nine being onboard wouldn't have anything to do with that choice either. Really. Honest.

Voted Excelsior. Based on TUC, it seems like a very durable starship for it's era. Hell, isn't it still in service by TNG?

I would not pick Defiant... especially with the way the bridge consoles seem to have been wired using fireworks.

seven of nine? pfft. Troi always wore those revealing outfits. plus she had that sultry british accent. . . .*coughs* anyways. . . .i'd likely go with the original enterprise. back when the officers weren't afraid to kick some arse if they had to. either that or Defiant. simply because with the defiant i'd be at the station most of the time and it managed to stay intact through most of its missions.

I'd have to say any of Kirk's Enterprises or Excelesior. They aren't the total death traps that later ships were. And even if the away missions are hazardous, at least they weren't the pointless sort of deaths of TNG.

You realize Voyager lost more crew than it had on board? If you're a lowly second rate character you're utterly fucked. Deader than a doornail.

Excelsior because at the time of TUC it was the biggest and baddest thing around. Also, Sulu seemed to be a pretty good captain with perhaps a little more restraint than TOS Era Kirk.

TOS ships or TNG ships? Tough choice... waitaminute, no it isn't - TOS ships all the way, baby! Now then, which TOS ship to choose from?

Enterprise - under either Kirk, Pike, or Decker (when the refit revamped it). PROS - Kirk kick's all sorts of arse, 3d chess, chicks wear miniskirts. CONS - you might die on an away mission.

Enterprise-A - no appreciable difference between this one and the above, except the chicks don't wear miniskirts.

Excelsior - possibly Starfleet's most successful class, it is certainly the most powerful ship in the fleet as of STVI. Sulu is a fine captain, and was taught by the best (Kirk). CONS - no chicks wearing miniskirts.

Enterprise-B - why choose this one when you can have Sulu and the original Excelsior?

I pick the original Enterprise, though the Excelsior would be a close second.

Considering TNG-era ships, the -C is out (I'm destined to be killed in battle or taken prisoner by Romulans - not a healthy fate at all), the -D is out (though the War GCS is in, being more powerful and without any of the stupid shit in it - do we ever see a War GCS interiors? I don't think so, at least I can't remember), the Defiant-class is in (either the actual Defiant or one of the others that were built), Voyager is way, way, waaay out. Out of a choice between the War GCS and the Defiant, I'm more inclined to pick the former; though I can't actually make up my mind.

In the case of both the -C and -D, you wouldn't necessarily be on the ship when it met it's untimely fate... and with the -D, you could live quite decadently.

The Excelsior looks great and has Sulu in command. What else could one ask for ? BTW I would shoot Tuvok once onboard.

Another factor to consider is the culture - by TNG, the Federation is run by bleeding heart commie hippie freaks, who obviously are inept at shipbuilding (or Romulan saboteurs are incredible - lining C4 to every ship's console in the fleet). I just wouldn't want to be in TNG by principle. Still, you make a good point. The -D would be great if all you want to do is bum around and play holo-adventures. And if you have "problems" you can always go to Troi, though the temptation of not looking at her bust might be too much to handle.

The -C would be a great ship if you want to "go out swinging." But I just don't know enough about it to form any opinion, other than the fact it was destroyed in battle.

the D would be fun to work on for the first four seasons. provided you get lucky and survive the handful of nasty encounters it has. they're so liberal about things that you could easily live a lifestyle worthy of the roman emperors. holodeck masturbafication anytime you want it, (make sure those doors are locked though) and babes in tight clingy jumpsuits that are likely to be very liberal about sleeping around (did i mention a counsellor in low cut revealing outfits with a sultry british accent?) especially since the threat of STDs is likely non existent. plus it's a mostly peacetime vessel, so the ent-d would get all kinds of other goodies warships simply wouldn't have.

The Enterprise-D is good if recreation and pleasure is what you want. But if you want action and want to go boldy explore space you have to chose the Excelsior. It is a true battleship that is run by a military captain. And the crew all wears real uniforms.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Ahem. Factors in favour of the E-Nil:
  1. All of the women wore miniskirts.
  2. Kirk is The Man.
  3. All of the women wore miniskirts.
  4. McCoy is the finest STD treatment specialist in the known universe. No matter what you picked up from the alien chick you reamed last night, he'll fix you right up.
  5. All of the women wore miniskirts.
  6. Most of the crew made it back alive after their five-year tour, although it's true that wearing a red shirt and going down to a planet on an away mission was pretty much a death sentence. Hopefully, you can be a nondescript engineering crewman.
  7. All of the women wore miniskirts.
  8. The ship was not destroyed until the original crew had long since rotated out.
  9. All of the women wore miniskirts.
Now let's look at the other choices. The E-D suffered just as many bizarre deaths as the E-Nil did, and there were probably a lot of crewmen who were killed or seriously injured during the crash in STG. The E-E was mostly assimilated by the Borg on one of its first missions; I'll take a pass on that one. The Excelsior is a big unknown; you just don't know what happened on that ship. But we know that they had already stopped issuing the miniskirts for female crewmembers by then. Defiant wasn't even big enough to have second-rate characters, and I can think of a lot of placed I'd rather be than Voyager.

Kirk's Enterprise, all the way.

I chose the D. Nice conditions, holodeck, communistic living. I'll never work again.

E-nil for me. I'd serve on a ship run by people with balls, miniskirted females, and EW personnel (what I'll be when I go into the Navy) don't go on away missions.

Excelsior all the way. It has many things going for it, for instance:
It never got blowed up.

It never got highjacked and taken to some weird ass place a million light years from anywhere.

It never got Borgafied.

It looks cool.

It was the best of the best when it was built.

Sulu is an actual captain, not a playboy, not a dilitante, not a prosthelitizing moron, not a psycho bitch, and most importantly, not Worf.

And weren't mini-skirts still around for those who wanted them?

I chose the E-Nil for obvious reasons. Major score against the E-D male crew men had to wear skirts too.

I said Ent-A
Basically the same ship but with better equiptment and It STILL has Captian Kirk!

I can live without the miniskirts but they are nice.

I'm thinking the E-Nil, so long as I'm not the random unnamed ensign that goes on away missions with Kirk, Spock, and Bones. It's the best ship of the lot of them, but it's also a giant game of Russian Roulette. On the plus side, it's not possible for me to be killed by an explosing console or Evil Lincoln while in the Holodeck.

I'll take the Enterprise-nil. Women in miniskirts, kirk in command, the feds not communist yet, a reactor that isn't always on the verge of exploding, what more could a guy ask for? I also seriously considered the Excelsior. Sulu would've made a fine captain and the ship class was definetly quite successful as it was not only in use in TNG, but it seemed like it was used by almost every admiral as his or her flagship. Now that's staying power.

BTW, Straha, if you're going to include ships like Voyager, which I am amazed recieved a vote, you might as well throw in Archer's NX-01.

I bet they all draw straws as to who has to accompany the captain on an away team.
