no big surprise considering the way Enterprise was heading. i pretty much gave up on the series after the first few episodes.

I said before, I'll say it again, I stopped watching Enterprise as soon as I saw the Klingons.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. To be honest, even if this is true then I'm surprised that the executives were willing to stick to the franchise for so long, given the financial disaster that it was.

I noticed an Enterpirse book at the bookstore today. I think it was titled Daedalus, which was supposed to be one of the pre-Connie ships in TOS.

According to the jacket on this book the Daedalus was to be the first warp-5 capable ship but a fault that was pointed out by Trip was ignored and the ship ended up being destroyed. 5 years later the Enterprise is supposed to be the first warp 5 ship. :x There they go again trying to back door fix things to sort of jell with TOS.

If Paramount is dumping Enterprise, I wonder if they're also considering bailing on UPN. Other than wrestling, Star Trek is the only thing keeping that network going.

Paramount can't exactly dump UPN, since UPN is United Paramount Networks. :)

Though a massive restructuring in programming would be in order.

I saw a book in the store which was titled "Starfleet: Year One" by (I think) Michael Jan Friedman. It's about the formation of starfleet and the federation after the tumultuous Romulan War. On the cover is a brand spanking new Daedalus-class cruiser.

But the coolest thing about it, and which had me laughing openly, was the disclaimer at the front of the book just before the story begins: "This book has absolutely nothing to do with the TV show "Enterprise."

Anyway I can't say I'm surprised by the rumour.

They can't dump it, but they can kill it. The network has been around for more than a decade and it's never been remotely close to successful. Other than WWE Smackdown, I don't think there's ever been a single program on the whole network that would survive on another broadcast network, in syndication, or on most cable stations. Most of its affiliates would probably be better off as independent stations carrying syndicated programming custom tailored for their markets, rather than UPN's drek.

It's funny, Smackdown could probably carry that network on its own. I once read that WWE generates billions every year...

Mostly in merchandise and ticket sales. I cannot see wrestling being able to carry a network.

Maybe they need more crappy black sitcoms... ;)

You never even made it to the opening credits of the first episode?
