The Lost Era novels

I was just wondering if anyone else has been following this six-book series and what they think about it.

For those who don't know, the synopsis of The Lost Era series is simple: It is an attempt to explore the seventy-year gap between Kirk's death in Generations and the launch of the Enterprise-D in Encounter at Farpoint and fill in some of the blank spots based on what little information we have been presented with.

Personally, I think the premise, while ambitious, is well-thought out, especially with book 2, Serpents Among The Ruins, which finally brought the truth behind the Tomed Incident to light.

Now, if only Lucas could do something like this...

I'll like it if they don't cop out and glaze over the social change that resulted in the Federation becoming communist. I would really like to see how the change occured, whether it happened gradually or whether or not there was some kind of revolution.

What was the Tomed Incident? I know it resulted in the Romulans becoming more isolated, but it was never examined during the show. What are the details?

Ooh Ooh! Does it Explain why Mr. Scott didn't think Kirk was dead in "RElics" but was present when he died at the beginning of Generations?

We might accept it as such, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of Trekkies (as well as most if not all of the current production staff) probably doesn't actually think of the Federation as communist. So, yeah, they'll 'cop out'.

And right you are; rather if focuses and expands on various little tidbits from the show, including the Betraka Nebula Incident (DS9's The Way of the Warrior) and the Tholian attack on Starbase 311 (TNG's The Icarus Factor).

No. The only TOS main characters that have appeared have been Sulu, Chekov, and McCoy, the last one being a quick cameo. Uhura will be appearing in the sixth and last book, 'Catalyst of Sorrows'

Of course, the problem with 'Relics' is that not only was it written before 'Generations', but Spock was suppoused to have been there omn the Enterprise-B; Leonard Nimoy was unavailable and thus, the part was re-written for Scotty.
