If the D'deridex had the entire hull hole filled in (but still dual wings), and then some sort of big space guns on the sides of the former hole, between the wing sets, it would kick ass.Frank Hipper wrote:For me, the D'Deridex comes so close to being awesome, but misses the punch with the huge empty spaces between the upper and lower hulls. It's command "pod" gets me going with the similarity to a pre-dreadnought battleship's ram bow, but it fizzles aft of that.

For me it's either the Jemmie bug or D'deridex.

I'm actually quite a fan of the Ferengi Da'Kora class Marauder. They have the latest Phasers, Disrupters, Photon Torps and some weird EMP weapon that knocks out a ships shields. They had so much potential as pitates then the writers had to fuck up and make them spineless.

I liked the "Husnock" ship in the survivors, wonder how that would do against a borg cube or star destroyer.evilcat4000 wrote:The D'deridex class Romulan Warbird is my favorite non-Federation ship. It is a massive warship with with more strength than the mightly Federation Galaxy. With it's cloaking ability the Warbird makes for deadly and silent killer.

It's worse than that, the Ferengi were supposed to be TNG's Klingons. They were gonna be a major power, with their own agenda not to mention resources and power that would rival the Federation's.Lord Pounder wrote:I'm actually quite a fan of the Ferengi Da'Kora class Marauder. maybe because Gene didn`t want the Federation to have a true enemy I mean could the Feddies from TNG have stood against Kang ,Kor ,or Koloth if they had equal tech??

My choices:
1.) Annorax's weapon ship, assuming I could figure out the technobabble about "temporal equations."
2.) The Dominion dreadnaught.
3.) The Scimitar.
4.) The Valdore.
Although it bears mentioning I'd heavily mod all of these. Personally I'd like to see the Dominion dreadnaught with Admiral Janeway's armor and torpedoes. I'd send that up against anything Imperial.

IIRC, they said that after the Last Outpost, or whichever episode they first appeared in, people thought they were more amusing than intimidating, so they nixed the rival idea and made them the greedy little comic relief.Stofsk wrote: It's worse than that, the Ferengi were supposed to be TNG's Klingons. Of course, you'd think they would have created a new race to make up for it....ah well.

Why is it I can only recall seeing the Negh'var in one episode, "Way of the Warrior?" Were they in any other episode?Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:I'd say the Negh'var. Just plain bad.
The venerable Bird of Prey has guns on each wing-tip. They're about the only ST warship I can think of which have weapons that look like weapons. The Klingons get points for that, surely.Klingon ships also have the neat little bonus of actually looking like military vessels, like Panzers In Space, instead of looking like impressionist sculptures flying around, like TNG Fed ships did.
On the other hand, I wasn't counting all the torpedo tubes which pretty much all ships have in ST. But seeings as they're nothing but a small hole in the ship where the torpedoes get flung out from, it's easy to miss them.
Agreed. It's because of TOS that we got the revamped Klingon ships, the Excelsior and Miranda, the crappy little science ship (ok, maybe not - but it did look good for what it was supposed to do).The TOS ships, OTOH... oh, those were nice.
