Probably because it would have been a completely irrelevant C-level plot. Rather like the stupid and sappy romance in the Insurrection.TurboPhaser wrote:No, but IIRC there was going to be something in the FC script about Lt. The only homosexual character was in DS9(the Attendent)...in the Alterverse, and was likely bi-sexual...who knows.The_Lumberjack wrote:Have we actually seen any gay humans in Star Trek? But as to main universe TOS-ENT?

Rejoined never made any mention of two females have romantic feelings for each other, it wasn't raised as an issue and Kira couldn't figure any possible reason why the two couldn't just pick up where they left off.Ender wrote:No, there has never been a homosexual character on the show. In fact there has been some pretty anti homosexual stuff on it (that episode where Crusher falls in love with the Trill that gets implanted in Riker and then in a female), and everytime the possibility of a homosexual character is broached, it gets shot down.
Crusher's reason for not keeping her relationship with Odan was the uncertainty about "his" constant host changes not that his host was now a female, again the fact that the host is a female is a non issue (of course Crusher may be hiding her true feelings and just not be attracted to women, which last time I checked isn't anti-homosexual).
The Hawk was a homosexual thing was used by Peter David in one of the Section 31 books IIRC (the story is as told to his boyfriend (or possibly Husband, I don't recall).

Theres a very good website on the very subject of homosexuality in Star Trek. Here is a link: http://www.webpan.com/dsinclair/trek.html

I recall once there was a ferengi female that masqueraded as a male because she could do the business thing, which wasn't allowed in thier society.
She told (Jadzia) Dax she was in love with Quark and Dax was all understanding about it, then was shocked to find out she was female. That indicates to me that homosexuality is at least known about in Ferengi and Trill society at that time.

I'd always heard that there wasn't any real mention of homosexuality in ST because it was supposedly just some common boring thing that didn't matter. Like race, gender, etc. It's in keeping with the whole "one big happy family" theme. I know they at least had a lesbian kiss on DS9 cause I remember being younger and REALLY lovin DS9 at that moment.
Now, all that being said, I'm sure there are gay Klingons, and knowing how fanatical some fans are....I bet there is a porn of it somewhere....

To the extent that we know without a doubt they're gay, no. But we've seen a few you could reasonably surmise have tendencies, at least. The "Mark 2" EMH from the Voyager ep "Message In A Bottle" played by Andy Dick might be one (okay, it's a hologram, but the d00d it was modeled after...) That "Daniels" dude from ENT might be a good candidate. Barclay might be bi. It's certainly possible. Yar had some pretty good indicators of a mid-range Kinsey rating. (The only being she ever expressed overt sexual interest in was still technically a really elaborate dildo...)The_Lumberjack wrote:Have we actually seen any gay humans in Star Trek? They seem to find it upsetting that Trek hasn't done anything with a gay character. All I can say is they shouldn't be suprised, Trek stopped doing anything genuinely progressive when TOS died. Instead it's been psuedo-progessive PC bullshit ever since. If they're suprised, they obviously haven't paid much attention to it.kojikun wrote:Theres a very good website on the very subject of homosexuality in Star Trek. I think there are no gay folk mainly because it won't be allowed on American TV.

Err, there have been gay characters, either openly so or implied, on American TV since "Laugh In" in the sixties.Gandalf wrote:I think there are no gay folk mainly because it won't be allowed on American TV.
Too controversial for Trek's production staff is a far more likely explanation.

In Voyager Kes went kinda Bi when a warlord took over her body. The warlord was married and when the Warlord/Kes was reunited with his/her wife there was almost some kissing, also the Warlord/Kes was getting re-married to the prince of the planet and was wanting a 3-some. Although the bi-sexuallness was implied and never openly stated it was there.
*Edited because Pounder doesn't know the difference between DS9 and Voyager*

Gay Klingons? I would venutre a guess that Alexander son of Worf, and the Son of Duros from the episodes Redemption I & II. As for Alexander look at him on TNG and DS9, how can he not be gay. I think Harry Kim was also gay but so far in the closet he kept trying for women but notice how his attempts fail bigtime like someone who doesn't want to be with a woman.
