I do believe it was somewhat intentional to make the Borg still mysterious. I am pleased we got to see some of the battle of Wolf 359. That was rather cool watching the Saratoga attack, then a Nebula and Ambassador try to save her. Its incredible the work the DS9 staff put into that rather small battle. They actualy researched the graveyard footage from BOBW to place wrecked ships in the back ground as the Saratoga exploded. They even used the "wrong" ships, the study models that got tossed into the battle footage (Nebula study model being a good example).

That could have been the best space battle in all of Startrek history graphics wise if nothing else. Can you imagine all the ships there putting out like the E-E in Nemesis, swarms of Akiras pumping volleys of torpedoes, the fire lighting up the battle--and the cube just taking it, and methodically annihilating federation ships one at a time. Desperate captains try new tactics, try to draw fire away from the flagship in vain, etc. A true sense of utter hopelessness yet they fight on all the way to Earth and just when all is lost and there can be no escape the weakness is found. Ah, that is why I like Trek movies (even Innsurrection): I can play with what they left un-finished.

"That is correct!"

"How do you plan for that?"

"Uh... lucky guess?"

He's not talking about the FC battle,He's talking about the unseen battle from Best of both worlds TNG part 1 and 2.

We only see like 30 seconds of said battles in ds9's pilot.

The words 'budget' and 'Patrick Stewart's salary' come to mind.

IIRC, one draft of the script called for multiple Borg cubes to be invading Sector 001... but in that draft, the new quantum torpedoes were described as being more effective like the technobabbly torpedoes were in VOY 'Endgame'.

I believe I read the first script, it was a whole Borg armada invading Fed space and the new quantum torpedoes made short work of them.

That would've made the borg far too impotent IMO given the resistence put up by the Dominion to the new Fed weaponry.

True, but it would fit with what we know.

Look at how effective the E-D phasers were in the initial encounter.

That alternate battle would have been so 'oh yeah freaking cool'

Watching Multiple Borg ships go 'pop' would have even made the later mess Nemisis apparently was forgiveable.

It would also explain why Voyager did so well against the Borg.

I thought that was because the Borg didn't know of the Starfleet weapons, whey adapted later in the ep.

Yes, and all I am saying is that it would be plausible that QT could be that devastating.

They should have left the massive Borg fleet and its trashing by quantum torpedos in.

- It would have explained why the Borg never send more than one cube at Earth at a time, or rather, directly contradicted it.

- It would explain why the Borg don't keep coming in greater and greater numbers - they got their asses kicked, why try the same tactic?

- Unfortunately, it would diminish the Borg as a threat, but hell, Voyager did that anyway!

- And most importantly, it would have looked really cool.
