Oh yeah, if it does happen it may settle the versus arguments about who would beat who. :D

Kick. Ass. Dude.

Ash is going to have to win, obviously.

I honestly wish I could say that I've seen the Evil Dead trilogy, but I haven't. :?

I think its kinda lame. If theres gonna be a fourth ED film, please not let it be another "versus" film.

What do you mean "another" vs. movie? There's only been one of them in recent memory, I would welcome more.

There was a Comedy Goldmine on SA recently, with "Alternate movie endings", and one of them was Freddy with Jason, saying "What's that sound?", and Ash was jumping down at them, chainsaw and boomstick at the ready.

I'm leaning towards a non-versus film myself.

Though if I had to choose between no film and a versus film, I'd choose the latter.

But wait... there's more! According to AICN, Evil Dead trilogy director Sam Raimi has expressed interest in returning to the Deadite-filled franchise when he's finished with Marvel wall-crawler Spider-Man (possibly for a trilogy there as well).
`

I think we will either get a versus or more in general. Or possibly both.

It’s true. FANGORIA has learned that New Line Cinema is seriously considering adding Ash (Bruce Campbell) to the inevitable FREDDY VS. JASON Round Two that the studio has in development. This is not some Internerd rumor, though the notion has been tabled out there in horror fandom for months. Sure, we’ve heard about other permutations for a follow-up to the blockbuster rumble (everything from FREDDY VS. JASON VS. LEATHERFACE to …VS. CHUCKY to …VS. MICHAEL), but the Ash scenario, evidently, is the only one that New Line is treating as a legitimate idea. We’ll keep you updated.
This sounds a bit more like a three-way than just Ash vs. either Freddy or Jason. :?

Hopefully Sam Raimi doesn't let the dollar signs get in the way of staying true o the series. Unfortunately I've been fearing this ever since Sequel Mania bit Hollywood.

My "MTV to Remake Evil Dead" thread highlights this point.

I stand firm in that Star Wars started Sequel Mania.

Id have to agree with you, though at least with Star Wars Episode I it was a planned prequel from back when Lucas concieved SW as opposed to some of these other sequels.

I'm sure Lucas wanted to film the prequels, but I think he was talking about the original three.

back when Lucas still wanted to do Nine Movies it was to encompss the Clone wars up through the events in RoTJ, his whole reason for doing the prequels was to "complete his vision" Otherwise why would AnH been titled Episode IV back in the seventies?

Actually it just says they're seriously considering it. They may change their minds and just make it a straight Evil Dead pic.
