I don't think anyone who was not involved in the making of the Saban Sailor Moon thing knows who that girl really is. Some people think that girl is Sailor Jupiter or Sailor Venus. The producer of the Saban Sailor Moon thing said in an interview that the girl in the wheelchair is not Sailor Jupiter.

That's right! I'm a huge fan of the Japanese versions. (I recently spent more than one hundred dollars on the Sailor Team Official Fan Book set (with the box). I also have the two new shinsôban manga books.)

Video quality-wise, it looks like that samurai period drama I saw on NHK Friday night...

Uts is pretty much right about the quality issue. It's not that they don't have access to high quality resources, it's just that they don't seem to care about the issue. Probably the only advantage that Japan has using video for live action TV is that (at least from what I've seen) it's very high quality video: I've actually been impressed by how much detail can be made out, even on a slightly older TV like mine.

The "Saban Sailor Moon" demo was actually about two minutes and thirty seconds long, and Toei rejected the idea outright. I have it on Sarah's hard drive...

As for this new Japanese version, I've actually been somewhat interested in the project ever since it was announced several months ago. Even after the "Um... okay." moment I had when I first saw pictures of the main cast (both regular and Senshi versions), I was still interested, mainly because the idea just sounded interesting and unique.

And now that I've seen stills from the first episode, I have to say that I'm still interested. :)

Thoughts based on images:

It looks like they've actually put a lot of effort into it for the most part.

Restricting the girls' hair colour being anime accurate to after they change into Senshi was a wise decision, and hopefully it will have people take the show more seriously.

Making Luna a plushy rather than a real cat seems a bit odd, but it's probably better than working with a damn cat and the delays/headaches it would cause.

I would have liked to have seen more caps of the monster, just to get a better idea of how it looked. And from the stills, it actually looks like they pulled off Moon Healing Escalation pretty well, in that it doesn't look too silly (you just gotta love the final pose  )...

The face grabbing gag looks really awkward, and frankly should probably have been left out. Some gags just don't survive the translation from anime/manga to live action very well...

At least Ami-chan's still pretty cute.

I just finished watching it~ didn't have subtitles, but I did get the gist of what they said

What a unique experience

One second Luna is CGIed on the screen, the next she's a plush cat that does nothing but nod her head

The henshin looked a little akward, and Escalation was mostly sparkle effects

Jedite looks a bit retarded

Tuxedo Kamen fucking owns here~ I don't know why, he just looks awesome--- Mamoru is also one bad dude

I liked Beryl's costume

The monster CGI was nice, but it doesn't interact with the environment well enough to be convincing

Saw episode 2 preview, it's going to have a guy-in-suit monster in the same vein as Powar Rangars -_- Complete with spazmatic movement

Don't know what else to say
It did make me hungry

p.s.s.s.s.s.s.s. they all possess teh slim butt

If you can call a rather stiff puppet anamatronic. :P

No, Luna switches from being a very toyish plush kitty, to a very toyish CGI kitty.

But you would have known that if you looked at the screenshots... ;)

I value my retinas more than you, hence th not viewing of said screenshots. :)

Upon viewing for the first time the opening sequence to the US copy of the live show, I had to undergo serious post traumatic stress therapy.

Though this stuff seems hilarioud all the same. :P

They're honestly not that bad, just a little odd is all.

You should know by know how some people here like to overreact and blow everything way out of proportion... :)

Character growth/interaction + the plot (yes, there is one) is mainly why I watched it.

However, I refuse to watch Season 4.

It's fun to watch, I often look at the hundred + episodes my bro has. I think Luna and Artemis rock.

Artemis is such a hedonist.

Anyone who reads Honor Harrington think Nimitz and Artemis would get along just fine?

The animation never was that good, especially in S1.

CHIBI, CHIBI, CHIBI!

I was looking for that episode that seemed like T2 where some guy called Wiseman reforms and it seems just like the T-1000 scene.

My ambition in life is to be as brave and well dressed as the Tuxedo Mask.

What, do you want to find a 13-year old to seduce or something?

LOL. And armor-piercing roses, can't forget those.

Presumably magical powers are free?

I just spent £130 today at Waterstone's on textbooks for this year. Among them is Genes VII by Lewin, Oxford Press. Unfortunately, it looks like I haven't inherited the magic powers gene off my Dad, presumably because he has "all the mystical power of a paper doily". But, on the plus side, I have the genome to armour piercing roses!

I stand corrected. But still I'm glad they didn't make it.

....That's almost as goofy as Power Rangers and stuff. Almost. The schoolgirl outfits keep it from crossing the line.

Becuase its entertaining, more than I can say for 90% of America's "normal" shit.
Heck most of the shit usaully comes in the translation. We need more unedited anime/shows. You guy's would be shocked at some of the plot lines of Sensi shows (Power Rangers)
